No LAN play
We're back with the usual bug topic, but LAN play 'supposedly' exists in the game, and yet if you do not have an internet connection the game just greys out the Multiplayer button. If you have things like LAN servers mentioned in your Create Lobby menu, we should be able to actually get to them.

Restore the ability to play on LAN, it really isn't that hard since you went through the effort of adding things like LAN servers to Lobby creation options.

This would also drastically reduce complaints of not being able to play during server maintenance, which disables my -whole MP game-.

Regards Microsoft,

Not all of us live in areas with great internet, and I would really like to not rely on Elon Musk's Starlink to play with someone in the same room as I when, not if, my internet goes down.

No, in the Definitive Edition there is no LAN capability. You have to be online to play multiplayer, even if the person you want to game with is sitting right next to you. The reason has to do with how players communicate with each other. Before DE, it was directly between players, peer-to-peer, and everything that happens within the game was synchronized through the host player. In DE, the players communicate to the server, which then goes to the other players in sync. I think it's a lot better because it's less dependent on the hosts internet connection.

The option should still be there for those that want it. They are not exclusive!

I prefer LAN if possible, but there might not be enough demand for the developers to put resources in it.

There was LAN in the game they started with and we have "LAN" servers in multiplayer, so it would entail essentially getting the Multiplayer button to be un-greyed with the master servers down.

How is that better? Now just one player is enough to make the game lag for everyone else, no matter if host or not.

This looks like a poor excuse to prevent piracy. When the server close someday, you will have no more multiplayer...

yeah. The game need peer-to-peer as an option. One situation in my mind: watching nillis tournament and its laggy because internetconnection :D If its a lot of effort to do it I woud also pay money (dlc) 4 it :D But like Lunatix said. We have a big problem if MS dont share the code/change the game for peer-to-peer. Because MS will shut down the server if they dont get money from it, which can happend. No one will buy a game with 10+ dlcs :D

It was like that for HD as well. With DE, hardware is the most important factor now.
