Does this game stutter for anyone else?

Its crazy, i play warhammer total war on max just fine but this game stutters like its going out of style?

yes, its sad. i never had problems like this before, but since the last update i cant play multiplayer games, because from late castle or imp the performance is always gettin worse, and late game when all players are full pop, its completely unplayable for me.
a lot of ppl have this problem since the last update, idk what the devs did wrong this time. they made a hotfix, a few days after the update, but it didnt change anything for me. and since then nothing happened.
guess we just have to wait for the next update which might fix the problem but in exchange other problems will appear. at least thats how its been after every new update so far :(

Lol I get 31 fps in the benchmark stress test at 1080p and I'm running a Ryzen 5 3550H and GTX 1050 3GB.

Edit: I get 60 fps with less than 500 units, like If i'm playing a 4 player map.

Yes and no. Things will be fine then it updates and stutters no matter size of game. This is 'normal' in aoe2 definitive.

I have had considerable reduction in chops and frame issues by disabling resource life bars or wtf they are called.

despite an improvement, I too have this issue as well though. While my system is modest(8 core, 20 gigs and a 1050ti), this should not be an issue.

For me its still very enjoyable.

it stutters for everyone, because microsoft cannot program to save its damn life.
the stuttering an unit pathing are so bad that they are now integrated and exploited by the game's meta.

That's fascinating, does it really help to remove the resource life bar? It's a shame since I find them to be very useful

To add to what i said it only happened to me once been fine since. But i hear issues all the time on here.

Ok, the definitive fix for me was to turn off Record Games. I'm not sure if it's possible to turn off Ranked Recordings, but for Custom games this definitely did the trick for me.

It ran better with Record Games off, but still sometimes a freeze here and there. Now I've uninstalled Malwarebytes and they are all truly gone!

What do you mean? I used Malwarebytes as an extra anti-virus. I just uninstalled it since Windows Defender is sufficient anyways. If you have another active virusscanner, (Avast, McAffee or indeed, Malwarebytes), you can temporary disable it or just uninstall it.

The problem is that whenever AoE updates the Recorded Game file, the antivirus is pinged that files are changing without the user so it scans it immediately. This freezes the game for a couple of seconds.

If you don't know how to uninstall programs: just type remove in Start and go to Add or Remove programs. There you can see a list of apps.
Another method is to navigate to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features for a more complete list of programs.

I found the cause of this issue, problem is DLC ''Enhanced Graphics Pack''
All you need to do is to Uninstall DLC then AoE DE without removing files from your folder where us installed, you can do this from Steam client just click AoE>Properties>Uninstall client>Download it again install without DLC ''Enhanced Graphic Pack'' Game will work like a charm Goodluck .

Happens in Single player for me as well as online. This game is broken and it makes me sad I can't play it or invest in the expansion.
