Just lose
You're in the placement matches. They put you against different enemies to figure out your ranking. Wait for a couple more matches.
I have played 18 games. Zero chance against same style people. Horrible matchmaking ever.

Remember, you start with ~ 1000 Elo, so it might take quite a while for you to lose enough Elo to get down to your current skill level.
If you want to improve your online experience:
- do the "Art of War"-missions
- look up build orders for a better early game
- may want to give some of the AoE2-Youtube-Channels a try (T90Official, Spirit of the Law, TheViper, etc.)
- make sure to create enough villagers (100+ at least). For most of the games in the ~ 800 Elo-range, having a better economy than your opponents is all you need to win.
-Looking at your match history here: https://aoe2.net/#aoe2de-matches-76561197991386429
-It looks like you may have won some placement matches and you started at an ELO that was higher than you should have been at.
-You are winning SOME games still; so you are probably around 800 ELO experience level to be honest. And at those levels you will find yourself facing wildly inconsistent opponents as well as yourself probably having extreme "good" days and it feels like everyone is a noob.
-Looking at the matchmaking ELOs of your opponents; it actually seems like it is doing a good job and matching you downward.
This game was deleted. I hope that AoE3 DE will have different rating system. Or it again waste of money.
In AoE3, you have started from lowest rank - "private". Next corporal and etc. It was right.
-You face the same problem no matter how you cut it.
-If you start at 0, any person deciding to play ranked will end up crushing you so they rank up if their real skill is higher. This will actually happen more often as every person joining ranked will start low and end up crushing you to move up.
-With AoE 2 DE, your skill level seems to be around 800 ELO. This means anyone hopping onto ranked will most likely not play you.
-Essentially its picking between forever having the possibility of matching against someone starting ranked who is very good
Vs
-Having a one time loss streak to "derank" to your skill level and if you never improve then you'll remain under where new players start at.
so if you start a private and remain private your whole life, will you be okay?
