Towers are pretty good, condottieri(swords)
Ethiopians - Arbalesters with faster rate of fire(archery), Shotel Warriors and free pikemen upgrade(swords), towers better LOS (defensive sorta)
I strongly suggest playing the Art of War campaign, it teaches things.
You aren't a cavalry man? Good because they don't have any, like Aztec and Mayans. They don't get any archer bonuses but do get all the upgrades and an alternative archer in the slinger if you want to use it. However their unique unit from the castle is just really nice and easy to use though it's a spearman not a swordsman. Towers (and later Castles) are cheaper if you want defensive structures for defending against rushes.
The Incan early game is quite good due to houses providing 10 population rather than 5 (Huns are good for the same reason and not needing houses at all but they are cavalry focused) and the Llama the Incans start with can be used as a second scout or if you don't find your sheep at the start can be eaten so your start isn't slowed down.
If you insist on Swords, Japanese are also quite good. Not as good on the defensive bonuses but they get a few nice early bonuses and also get all the archer upgrades while having solid infantry and just solid all round really. Ethiopia as mentioned also suits the list quite nicely. Italy isn't bad but unlike Inca, Japan and Ethiopia they struggle early due to a lack of early game bonuses, however the unique is worth it.
You mean the Human Species is the superior to other Animals.
if you categorise it or not it doesnt matter ... Nature dont give a ♥♥♥♥ about your opinion!
To name one for example the Mongoloid Race within are many different types ... this is Nature and its beautiful!
Problem is... this isn't really the kinda game where you play defensive. You have to try and attack as quickly as possible and disrupt the AI (or human player's) resource collection, preferably as early as the feudal age, otherwise you let them get to the imperial age peacefully and unmolested and they have 50 farms, 50 woodcutters, have stripped their half of the map of stone and gold and are hitting you with infinite waves of units.
