AOE2 2019 VS AOE2 2013
So what is the difference? The trailer said a new campaign, audio and 4k. but somehow its cheaper to pre order the definitive edition (2019) than to buy the OG 2013 version? How will my 2013 DLC come to 2019 version?

The best will remain the original version on Gaming Zone of the 90's: p

Age2 HD can play with the current machine.

Definitive edition is just a commercial operation with an old game.

If I want to play in 4k, I play a game rescent : Age of empire 4 ?!

if not :

Well, obviously the Definitive Edition has new visuals, sounds, and some new content to keep it fresh. Put that alongside updated multiplayer and it's hard to argue against. From what I've gathered, this new AOE2 release comes packaged with all the DLC in it.

-The 2013 was a simple conversion to have to run on modern systems.

-The 2019 version is more of a redefining of the game and will include all previous content plus a new expansion among other improvements like a rewritten multiplayer backend, etc.

AoE4 will disappoint, and never be as good as AoE2.
Doesn't mean it won't be good in general.

It will be as good as AoE3, which means that the fanbase will not transition, and it will die rather shortly thereafter. Modern RTS games suck, they lack all of the magic of the late 1990s and early 2000s RTS era.

Yes, i think so :TryAgain:
The better is the original AOE2

AOE2 DE a lot of buzz for not much more !

I've tried DE and my god! There's ZERO lag. The game doesnt stutter/lag and wait for host or anything. Played a couple 4v4s and it was better than playing in a LAN with aoe2HD.
Game was made in a new engine and not just some reskins like people keep yapping about. I had no problems running on a gtx750ti i5 (2nd gen) 8gb ram at 1920x1080.

The aoe2DE will come with all current civs + 4 new ones, so you don't have to buy/unlock other DLCs like Rajas and stuff and it comes at a very small price for a classic ($15 if you already own HD). Try to compare that with other remasters that offer nothing new (just reskins), like wc3 and starcraft? People complaining about $15 probably dont even have the hardware to run it 11.

It brings so much quality of life, like it shows the number of vills on each resource without having to click that buttton next to the minimap, it shows your ctrl groups with different icons, like a group of archers will show as a bow and arrow and stuff. Literally no excuse to not try it.

I do think, however, that aoe2HD will prevail because it requires less hardware and can still be played without a dedicated GPU, but it's just a loooooot better to play the aoe2DE.

This is why they are not deleting HD, because a lot of people will still be playing it.

I'm happy to read this.

4K is available since High resolution patch came on voobly with the original version of the game (released in 1999), all the newer versions are just bugged and have bad network. Microsoft abandonned age of empires 2 around 2004 because they said the servers were too expensive. And 15years later, the player base was still as big and even growing, but hosted by community and voobly.
I spit on microsoft for that and will stick with the original version, because microsoft never consulted the communityn while they maintained the game for so long and release new expension. Then microsoft arrived, "hey we can make big money with the work these people have done... should we sell the same game again and again? After all people are doom and have no memory, they will buy the game again and again so we can make profit forever on these junk".

Unfortunatly for them, the best version remain the one from voobly.

-They worked directly with the community from what I can tell. Modders from the community. Pro players from the community. Etc. Do you know something I may not. E aware of?

This Discussion got rather lost in other topics. I still prefer AOE2 over 3, couldnt play it so im not looking forward to AOE4 which will likely be a money sink.

Just looked at the Steam store. they've changed some of the dates also, AoE2 (2013), AoE3 (2009), AoE2 Definitive (2019)

Some facts:
- AoE 2 realesed in 1999 (before video game content rating system established).

- AoE 2019 developers are Relic Entertainment.
- Relic Entertainment made Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War.
- Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is inspired by ♥♥♥♥♥♥ colorfull Warcraft.

So we have:
- AoE 2013 just a fan mod to 1999 and looks perfect. :wololo:
- AoE 2019 has no blood and looks like a colorfull ♥♥♥♥ for kids.
