Arena is not just booming, straight FC smush and fast imp are strats which you dont see on arabia.

Smash melee only has double the prize money of aoe2; but i dun think people would say theres no pro scene in melee.
But the point is that the best rm players tend to make good arena players. Players like hera and mbl would still be at the top of arena players despite very heavily playing Arabia. Whereas the best arena players or black forest players etc. Whereas the players known for arena aren't that great on arabia.
Like if you take an arabia player, how long does it really take them to learn some of this stuff. I think the tower rushing on arabia is a bit different, but like does turks fast imperial really play out all that different? Its just hand cannon and bombard cannon micro, you'll get that from Arabia. Its a bit different, but most of the skills directly translate.
In the other direction, you're never gonna be dealing with like scout raids and counter attacks and all that sort of stuff. Your'e walled off. Maybe in the late game if they break your walls, but you're still always more defended from that than Arabia. Map control is simpler, because you don't really need defensive castles to protect from raids in the same way. Like on Arabia if you place a forward castle and it goes down you can get screwed late game when hussar raids come in, but arena you've got walls.
I guess I should dial the statement back down. There's a stuff to learn on Arena. Its just less, and if you ever became as good as Viper on Arabia you'd probably be top 10 on Arena by default (maybe like a day of practice, you'd obviously have to have at least played the map). That's the bigger point, because even if you disagreed Arabia takes more skill, the point is that you can 100% become a top player by playing 1 map, so this idea you have to be this jack of all trades who learns literally everything is just not agreeable to me.
Vaaat each player in a party can Ban? I didn't know that... I thought only the party leader bans were taken in consideration. Maybe they should change that aswell.
If you're in a party already, you can just coordinate the bans too.
LOL Viper makes well over $50k a year from tourneys.... You need to go back to 2nd grade and learn math...

How are those maps bad from a competitive point of view? Asking out of curiosity.
I'd like to see you try to play against Hoang. Pretty sure you would get absolutely stomped by him. (So would 95% of people here).
Its super snowbally, once you win the hill you win the game, its so hard to comeback. 1 relic = 1 vil on gold, and there are ♥♥♥♥ ton of relics on the hill. Unlike gold miners which you have to create one by one from TCs (which also cost stone), you can create monks which can grab multiple relics over time. Contrary to gold rush or golden pit, where players who lose the centre still have a chance.
Rivers
The map gen with no water surrounding is super choky, just one river and few crossings between the players, creating campy stalemates all the time.
