Wtf is this map pool? (AGAIN)
Devs can you stop greifing me with these maps? Mountain pass... Kilimanjaro... Mega random... Hill fort... Bog Islands... Literally WHO asked for these maps?

Garbage maps and there are too many maps overall. Map pool should consist of 3-5 maps imo. What about Arabia, Arena, Golden pit, Continental

Closed land maps teach you nothing except how to boom (something you could learn on Arabia anyways).

Arena is not just booming, straight FC smush and fast imp are strats which you dont see on arabia.

I didn't want to enter fight of aoe vs SC2 the game as different approach and even if SC2 is well more optimized aoe has is card to played.
But i agree i want to play equilibrate match most of the times , and sometimes weirds maps are fun. But they're just too many i can't ban them all , i can't go to the map pool and be sure i have an equilibrate map .You know aoe is a rigid game and something like hole in the woodlines are really annoying most of the times .
RNG could be frustrating, but making sure no holes in woodlines / avoiding overchop should be players own responsibility.

(PS : stop fighting about the competitive aoe scne ; they're no PRO scene in aoe ; i doesn't say they're bad played or they not right too chalenges themselves (and it's great they're still really high level player on Aoe ) but i don't called PRO someone who earn 4000 dollars in a whole year but it's better than nothing for sure )

Smash melee only has double the prize money of aoe2; but i dun think people would say theres no pro scene in melee.

I mean it was a bit of an overstatement.

But the point is that the best rm players tend to make good arena players. Players like hera and mbl would still be at the top of arena players despite very heavily playing Arabia. Whereas the best arena players or black forest players etc. Whereas the players known for arena aren't that great on arabia.

Like if you take an arabia player, how long does it really take them to learn some of this stuff. I think the tower rushing on arabia is a bit different, but like does turks fast imperial really play out all that different? Its just hand cannon and bombard cannon micro, you'll get that from Arabia. Its a bit different, but most of the skills directly translate.

In the other direction, you're never gonna be dealing with like scout raids and counter attacks and all that sort of stuff. Your'e walled off. Maybe in the late game if they break your walls, but you're still always more defended from that than Arabia. Map control is simpler, because you don't really need defensive castles to protect from raids in the same way. Like on Arabia if you place a forward castle and it goes down you can get screwed late game when hussar raids come in, but arena you've got walls.

I guess I should dial the statement back down. There's a stuff to learn on Arena. Its just less, and if you ever became as good as Viper on Arabia you'd probably be top 10 on Arena by default (maybe like a day of practice, you'd obviously have to have at least played the map). That's the bigger point, because even if you disagreed Arabia takes more skill, the point is that you can 100% become a top player by playing 1 map, so this idea you have to be this jack of all trades who learns literally everything is just not agreeable to me.

Removing a map would also REMOVE 1 ban. They added 9th so they could give people an extra ban. 2 players with 4 bans = 8 possible map bans total, leaving 1 map playable. Add any more and you cannot matchmake.

Vaaat each player in a party can Ban? I didn't know that... I thought only the party leader bans were taken in consideration. Maybe they should change that aswell.

That's why there's only 1 ban in 4v4. Yeah, party leader bans could work for parties, but not for solo queues.

If you're in a party already, you can just coordinate the bans too.

I doesn't talk about VIPER who his the only pro streamer on which we can consider Cashprizes is a consequent amout of his total earnings. I was talking about MBL particularry or Hoang Nguyen or others boys that somes called pros for no reasons.
Having 15+ years of experience and playing every weird map out there and being able to adapt quickly....That is the point of a strategy game, and reading all of these posts complaining about the variety of maps makes me LOL. Basically what I'm hearing is that you can win under specific circumstances, and in others you can't. If you are placed in a map that you don't know what to do, you throw a fit and make a forum post about it, because its not fair!
I want to see more water maps. There's too many land maps in the ranked pool.

Some maps (eg. wolfhill / rivers) are actually very bad and should never be included in the map pool

How are those maps bad from a competitive point of view? Asking out of curiosity.

I'd like to see you try to play against Hoang. Pretty sure you would get absolutely stomped by him. (So would 95% of people here).

Wolfhill
Its super snowbally, once you win the hill you win the game, its so hard to comeback. 1 relic = 1 vil on gold, and there are ♥♥♥♥ ton of relics on the hill. Unlike gold miners which you have to create one by one from TCs (which also cost stone), you can create monks which can grab multiple relics over time. Contrary to gold rush or golden pit, where players who lose the centre still have a chance.

Rivers
The map gen with no water surrounding is super choky, just one river and few crossings between the players, creating campy stalemates all the time.

3 maps is too few for the game to be fun. 5 maps is still not enough. 10 would be good.
