Photon Man Cheat is not working at all. SOLVED

So I finally got the game after all this time. I found out that there are events that if you missed then that's just to bad you dont get the content no matter what. I've read conflicting reports that in order to unlock the Photon Man cheat you must own and play AoE 1: DE and get the achievement "21st Century" where you build 21 Hoplites. I did that and got it. Play AoE 2: DE and to no avail the cheat does not work. Then I read elsewhere that was an "Anniversary Event" or something and if you participated you got the Photon Cheat activated on your account. I was wondering which of these is true? Did I misunderstand and do something wrong? Am I screwed and cant use my favorite cheat from my childhood? or is there a mod I can download that will unlock it for me? I do not care about Achievements whatsoever.

You could only unlock cheat code during Anniversary Event and event after that meaning you cannot unlock photon man as cheat anymore. photon man is still available in game editor and also unlockable modding games files(so it isn't restricted to only map made in editor). None of those methods allow it to exists as cheat though.

BTW photon man never existed in aoe2 before DE version so you were never able to use it in aoe2 in your childhood.

Ah so the event was the truth. Many thanks friend. That is super unfortunate though. But knowing I can mod him in as a trainable unit is awesome and something I'll be looking into, thank you for that. Also I know that but I prefer AoE 2 over AoE 1 but my favorite Cheat Code is e=MC2 which is for the Photon Man. So when I found out they put him AoE 2: DE I was mad excited until that flame was put out a few hours after my purchase. Anywho thanks for your help friend.

Was never really a fan of the photonman, it had like 80 hp, 60 attack, EXTREMELY slow moving, and easy to pick off with a few archers. The only thing really cool is the animation of a futuristic star wars stormtrooper doing battle with medieval stuff. You're not missing out on much.

That's exactly why I liked it. Like some time travel BS. Plus I'm just easily entertained and have always had an active imagination. You're right though trash unit. But the nostalgia is strong with me and besides they were just fun to use. When I play AoE 1-3 I play for fun, city building, and epic siege battles. 20 years now of doing the exact same 3 things and I never get tired of it. I would just like to have the cheat work is all for my own personal enjoyment and not be restricted to obtaining it via a limited time event like this is some MMO RPG or Battle Arena RPG Game series like Destiny, WoW, LoL, Fallout 76, Final Fantasy Online, Skyrim Online or The Division.

Honestly I just got fed up with this event garbage so I opened a thread about getting rid of them here where there's a bigger chance for it to get noticed:
