-Unfortunately, I'm not at my PC, but click on the dropdowns on the top right of your screen; one of them should say Custom Scenario if you are downloading Custom Scenarios.
-Unless you're just downloading normal maps, then you don't need to do the above.
-Did you subscribe from them through the in-game mod manager? Or are you grabbing them somewhere else?
-Oh, I don't know how it works outside of the game. But when you are in-game on the main menu, there is a MODS button. Try that out!
-If you want to play the 'normal' game; you want to look at random maps.
-If you're looking for like super specific possibly new campaigns or interesting/weird things; look in scenario.
