Screen always goes blank roughly 30 minutes into the game.

Hey Team,

I've been trying to play Age with a mate, however roughly about 30 min into the game my screen randomly goes black. I can hear and see units however I can't see the land, building tab, game option ext.
This has been happening every time we play multiplayer however It never effect him. I've tried playing around with the graphic settings, updating drivers and have tried a number of recommendations online but I'm still having the same issues happening. I'm no tech genius so any help would be amazing.
Is anyone also having this issue?

Try this: SOLVED: If you're running a recent RADEON Software to manage your graphic properties, go into Games --> AoE II DE --> Radeon Anti-Lag and disable this feature. It's probably not compatible with the game. Enjoy!

Is this happening only in the game window, or are you able to tab out to your desktop?

I recently experienced a problem where my monitor would lose the input signal suddenly, and after swapping cables, monitors, even video cards. I would continue to hear audio (not specific to AoE or even when gaming), but there was nothing that I could do but shut down. Temperatures were all fine. I found that this was caused by a failed system overclock value.

I can actually play in full-screen and game window. It only ever starts to happen about 30 minutes in. I've turned off Negative Load Bias in setting so I'll see if that works.

I have the same issue. Bought the game recently and then only when starting up realized I'm short of Vram. My Nvidia Geforce 5400 only has 1gb of Vram and game requires 2gb.

The game starts up and runs through all the intros and menu fine. I even pass the benchmark test for online play. While playing, within 1 to 2 hrs I get a black screen. The game is still active and I can hear the characters but cannot see anything.

Steam doesn't want to refund me either because my game play is over 2hrs.

Try playing a Single player 4v4 with AI, play for 30 minutes or until the screen blacks out IF it blacks out. If it doesn't, then we'll know that it's an issue with multiplayer and not the game or your hardware.

Having the same issue here. I can start the game, play for around 30-40 minutes and the screen turns black. The audio is still on and can see the map below, but everything else is dark.

My RIG
- GeFroce GTX 1080
- Intel Core i7-7700 CPU
- 16 GB RAM
- 1920 x 1080

Steam doesn't want to refund since the game play > 2 hours.

Couldn't find a solution online :(
