Why is it that I can find a game within one minute of logging onto AoE II HD yet if I try to play an online match in DE the lobby is mostly empty, I cannot join any rooms because there aren't any "empty slots", or I'm waiting forever to be paired up in a ranked match? I bought this game primarily for the multiplayer but due to these issues I've found myself going back to the HD edition more frequently since getting into an online match is much easier and less painful.

Yes, it's shameful.

Let's just hope that they fix it quick... not like the broken ELO system in HD which hasn't been fixed for almost two years now despite it being called a "high priority issue" by a MS employee...

I couldn't agree more.

Actually when I started to play DE I didn't want to switch back to HD anymore. But multiplayer is a pain in the ass, so I find myself on HD again and again.

Of course. I mean I don't have another choice than to play HD... in HD there are lobbies I can join, in DE there aren't most of the time...

Besides this: Yes, DE has some nice changes that make the gameplay more comfortable. But it's by far nothing ground-breaking. And when it comes to graphics, I'd even say that they're a bit less clear than in HD.

So really the things that should have been better than in HD is Multiplayer performance, fixed ELO system etc... but currently this stuff is even worse in DE than in HD -.-

The lobby isn't actually empty, it's just that a bug prevents games from being visible in it. Most of the time when you host a game, it simply doesn't appear in the lobby at all. This has been going on since release. Honestly rather pathetic at this point that such a massive problem remains unfixed.

when creating a lobby choose a server rather than letting it choose the default server, I choose uswest2 and now people are able to see and join my lobbies

I've read this advice several times. The problem is: It doesn't work for a lot of people affected by the bug. We've all tried this whithout success.

I've been really enjoying it, the new server based multiplayer is so much better, no desync etc. I usually find a 1v1 game in about 1-3 mins of watiing. Only problem for me is the occasional crash (about 1 in 10 games) which is super annoying, hopefully that can be fixed.
