On black forest you can usually wall btween you and your opponent and he cant rush you at all. fat slob style
That's just how I usually play; I'm a defensive player who usually attacks late game.
-Ah, well I don't want to change your playstyle drastically, but for what it's worth, generally the much cheaper option is to just wall and then you dont need to waste that time making towers as well as that vill time on stone etc. Pending map of course.
one i've been trying a drush into towers into krepost & konniks with mixed success. the free upgrade militia is pretty nice
Lithuanians and Goths are the Rushing civs, afterall.
Just advance with 31 villagers or so into Feudal Age, for a ludicrous map is quite good honestly. Then make a blacksmith and market as soon as you reach feudal age soon and click on castle as soon as possible, around the 34 villagers mark is good probably. Then have 6-8 villagers on stone and research stone mining as soon as you begin advancing to Castle age. Since it's a ludicrous map, it should take your oponent several minutes to reach your base and you can do this with ease. I'd even just wall with houses, or not far around my base. Just don't forget to continue making your economy grow (as in build more town centers, farms e tc. and reach a villager population of half the total population as soon as you can), and expand your land occupied, so that you can counter his next moves, as dealing with the towers is going to be only your first step!
Next, build a sizable military base (castles and several barracks, cav, archery, siege...) close to their base so that you can attack them continuously. This would likely be late game, so your eco base should be well protected and you won't need to continue turtling at this point.
Have fun!
got other untouched gold/stone? Just avoid the towers
what age are you in? Seige is a nice counter
If he keeps pushing with towers, a tower for defence could be made.
So need to know the map/civ/age and even your population, also 1v1 or tg is a big difference. Best way to learn it, is to face it and try things for yourself. Maybe get someone to practice with you?
