AOE2:DE on Intel UHD 630 Graphics?
Can AOE2:DE run on Intel UHD 630 Graphics?

My primary computer is a Mac that work issued to me, but I’m looking to buy a (relatively) inexpensive PC so I can play my favorite Steam games. I really want to get into AOE2:DE and read the system requirements but it’s hard to figure out how to compare the specs listed to what PCs have today. Specifically it seems like half the desktop PCs on the market currently all have the same UHD 630. Will that run this game? I’ve seen lots of comments about people having issues with the super HD expansion pack so let’s assume I don’t run that, only the “normal” version. I found a great deal on a PC with 3.2ghz i7 and SSD but it only has the UHD 630. Is that going to run this?

Thanks!

I am curious. If you Bootcamped your Mac, would the Windows side be able to run it?

Actually, I did check that, but no. I actually do have boot camp installed with Win7 which I got from work too, lol, and it will run the HD version just fine. I’ve been playing that for quite a while. But the DE version requires Win10 and better graphics than what I have currently. Since it’s work issued they’re not going to give me a better machine for gaming, hence I’m trying to find a “cheap” PC just for gaming. Like maybe 500-600, etc

Thanks for asking!

A little advice: Do not go Apple for the PC 😄

-It may work on boot camp with win 7. Nothing wrong with trying it right?

That is true, there is no harm in trying it. I haven't bought DE yet but I plan to, so I might as well buy it now while there is Black Friday sale it and see if it works. If it doesn't I still want to buy a low-mid range PC to play it and other PC games on my Steam account.

But assuming it doesn't work, I still have to choose a PC that will run it and I'm hoping to be in the 500-600 range, and a majority of machines at that price point have the UHD 630 even if they have a great processors like the i7.

So that still leaves me with my original question, will it run on the UHD 630?

Thanks to everyone who has commented so far.

What country and what currency do you use?
ironchefor Nov 30, 2019 @ 12:07am
US Dollars. Technically AOE2:DE is not on sale, but AOE1:DE is on sale, and if you buy the 1+2 bundle it is less than $3 more than just 2 by itself, so you're basically getting AOE1:DE for less than $3 if you buy the bundle. ;-)

At least in the US, I don't know about other countries

Minimal and recommended specs are a lie, is pure luck if you can play DE.

Are you capable of building a PC?

Did you finally get any answer to this question?

Yes it seems to work.

Just deactivated my dedicated graphics and ran the aoe2DE graphics benchmark on my integrated HD630 only and got 1205 points. Also i did not notice any lags in the benchmark and got about 40-45fps. So it should be fine. (sorry for being very late to the topic :D)

Hey Hello!

I tested the AGE2 DE on my 2015 MacBook Pro with Intel Iris 6100 and of course, it didn't work well. I was able to play, but I gave it back because it didn't make sense.

So it works, it works. It would have to do with your video card if it really works optimally.
