Tampering detected - during replay
Hi all,

After the update that caused all the fuss with Windows 7, I upgraded to Windows 10 and it fixed the initial problem.

I played three games online afterwards and I'm really enjoying the new maps! After playing the third game I went into the replay and started watching it. Sometime into the replay the game jumps back to the main menu and an error comes up.

I try to read the error and it says something about an overlay or antivirus is affecting the running of DE. Before I can digest the message, the application starts lagging and a message comes up saying "Tampering Detected" in red with the version number of the game in white.

I have AVG running in the background, the Steam Overlay (obviously) and since upgrading to Win10 there seems to be Windows Game Bar also running.

Do you think the problem comes in with Windows Game Bar and Steam Overlay fighting for access to the App. I've implemented Steam API before but never dealt with Windows Game Bar so no idea if this is a possibility.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues? I don't want to get banned or lose ELO points if this happens during an actual game. Luckily it was during a replay.

EDIT:

I just remembered I ran the game in compatibility mode and changed to Admin privileges while trying to get it to work on Win7 before upgrading. I'm gonna revert the settings back to default just in case that might be causing the "tampering".

I ran into the same trouble. AOE2DE wouldn't launch in Windows 10 unless I ran it in Windows 8 compatibility mode. Looks like I have to change it back.

Was this after or before the last update?

Same issue here and also after I ran the compatibility trouble shooter, which set it to Win 7/Administrator ! How does one revert without re-installing the game?

Hi guys, this error pops up when the game detects non-standard settings. So when I changed the compatibility settings it started happening to me. I fixed it by switching all compatibility settings back to default.

Any update? This thing is really annoying.. i have tried several things and nothing.. it keeps crashing randomly.. about to give up in this game.. especially when you are playing ranked.
I've had this happen a few times during multiplayer matches, but always very, very late into them. No way of telling whether it will happen or not, and no obvious solution. Seems to have only started for me with the most recent patch.
