opinions on best anti-building, NON-siege, ranged, unit
say you were entering a contest

in this contest you had to destroy a town center without using any siege or melee units (everything post-imp)

what unit do you pick? arguments for cost effectiveness vs speed vs damage etc. are all valid. curious what people would use

example units would be: gbeto, mayan archer line with obsidian arrows, throwing axemen etc. etc.

basically regular units that, in some way, deal decent damage vs buildings from range.

Probably I would pick the Huns, as their Tarkan have really good attack bonus against buildings

"non-melee" i'll edit it to "ranged" though. that would have been clearer.

yeah arambai seem like a top tier choice vs buildings.

longbowmen because they outrange castles is an option or safety (although you said town centers so you're probably not worried about them getting damaged). Other than that its just about what units do the most damage, and that's probably arambai or mayan archers (I think obsidian arrows is about the same as the saracen bonus but mayan arbalests are cheaper). I think war wagons also don't take much damage from town centers, and I think they've got low enough pierce armor that the war wagon 13 damage deals decent dps to them.

I believe Obsidian arrows gives 1 more damage than the total Saracens bonus, however the Saracens bonus is always active, and can be used in a feudal rush. Whereas you need to research the tech at castle for Mayans.
