Not to forget that the campaigns are a great way to get to know your civilisations better.
200 hours sound reasonable to me. If anyone wants to look into the actual count of games within all campaigns, feel free to do it.
Edit: It'll have 35 civs and 27 campaigns. Math is slithly off now but you get the picture.
Can't say precisely, but - completing all those campaigns took me roughly 150hrs.
Plus another 100hrs on messing around and replaying maps I loved with different units. It is hell lots of content.
AoE II is my current game with highest hrs on record (462hrs :D ), and it's very likely I will spend at least half of that time in the Definitive Edition. *_* Can't wait!
My most played game is Crusader Kings 2 with almost 1,900 hours
But the AoE 2 HD campaigns are not a good comparison for how long the DE campaigns will take. In AoE 2 HD the campaigns take longer because the AI is so overtuned to be a beast and make your life difficult as hell.
In the original game the campaigns were nowhere near as difficult as the HD version and could be completed much quicker.
