Can you pause and give orders?
Unless I'm mistaken, I thought the original one did.
What about this version?

Yes, this version has that too but why would you do that? Doesn't work in multiplayer though, as it would mean people pausing and unpausing all the time making the game unplayable.

Great, thanks for the reply! For me, the occasional pause makes things more manageable and less chaotic.

No problem! Whatever floats your boat :)

Push the "Pause Break" or "F3" button on your keyboard (you can also edit the hotkey in the game options under "Game Controls"). You can set everything up, hit the button again, & everything you've done will play out (i.e. change unit stance, attack, convert units, etc).

You can even "chain" actions which will all start once you take it off pause. For example, you can tell a unit to change stance AND move to a spot/attack/etc. You can also tell a group of builders to start multiple buildings - it won't show the building frames until you unpause but, once you do, they'll all show up instantly & your builders will start working their way through the group. The trick is just remembering what you've done lol.

It's a good way for a beginner to get better at the game. It gives them a chance to properly think about what they are doing in the most optimal way. Also its a good way of learning build orders. Once you have learned how to execute the order optimally you can then wean yourself off using the pause button.

In sigleplay game yes u can, but in mulitplay game u can't issue orders while pausing. I believe it was same on earlier version.

Sorry to resurrect an old topic.
I've just started playing AoE definitive. Only want to do single player.

I can pause the game by pressing F3, but then can't give orders or even move around the map. Am I missing something?

You can give orders but they'll only show up after you unpause. Say you queue 4 Villagers or tasked a Villager with building Houses, the queue and the building foundations will only show up when you unpause.
Good thing you have resurrected this topic because the other one was fully of misinformation (not your fault, of course, the fault is within the people who provided such misinformation).
