An interesting little platformer that takes only 15-20 minutes to complete. Not much is told of the background - your protagonist seems to be the survivor of some sort of alien invasion and she wishes to get to safety with her only child.

I don't want this to feel like a complaint but playing the game is a chore - our heroine moves at an extremely slow pace. The very first section is about avoiding a light which would be easier if running or a faster walking option was available.

Game mechanics feel weird. Jumping requires a sec of preparation from our heroine and using the grapple at the wrong angle is not good. Jumping from one box onto another can also be a chore if you are too close to the box you are trying to jump on.

There is a returning puzzle-solving section that feels good and during the final battle we have to do various things in order to beat it. The single achievement the game employs, however, doesn't pop; continuing the game by hitting "continue" or going to the chapter selection screen can be unavailable due to being glitched.

I appreciate that it is a free product and - as per the synopsis - it was a 3-person team effort realised only in a quarter, still, you can always patch your final product. Given its shortness it shouldn't have been that difficult.

Very nice 2D game.

Decent 15 minute freebie. This game excels with it's visuals but comes off as okay with it's other features.

+ Free
+ Pleasing graphics and atmosphere
+ Interesting story and dialogue
+ Simple and understandable gameplay

- Slow pacing. If you were meant to avoid the lights the entire game this may have worked. After the lights the slow pacing just feels like a chore to progress.
- No soundtrack for setting. The characters and environment is quite nice, but the soundtrack really only exists during the credits leaving the rest of the game feeling even slower with no music or ambient noise
- Cliffhanger ending. If more is meant to be released in a future project there wouldn't be an issue.
- Some bugs can happen preventing progress.

All in all this is a short decent game. It sets up an interesting mood and small world with it's jump into it story. Worth the sit down that will take you all of 10-20 minutes to play through and you get an achievement out of it.

This is a really random game, but it's nice to play. At some stages it is a bit glitchy, but overall a really nice game.

I was liking the game at first despite the slow pace until I got to the boss at the end.

The game is extremely buggy.
The first bug encounter was I got stuck behind the boss and couldn't finish him off.
The second bug encounter was the mine cart above the boss, I used the grapple hook on it but nothing happened. I couldn't use the grapple anymore and couldn't finish off the boss again.
Then the third encounter was the achievement didn't even pop (even after exiting the game like most people said).
The fourth bug was when I tried to continue off my save near the boss, the MC loaded into a completely empty level and just kept falling with no way to die.

After all these bugs, i had to play the game 3 times until the achievement to complete the game finally unlocked.

It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game to begin with, but there are so many bugs. Your character will just freeze for no apparent reason and its near impossible to even complete the damn game. You have to complete it in one go, because you can't scroll through the chapters in "Select Chapters" nor can use the continue button unless you want to spawn in the middle of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nowhere. ♥♥♥♥ this "game".

Easy 100% was the draw for me here.
The demo has really great voice acting and some nice concepts (namely the orb puzzles), and reminds me of one of Playdead's games (INSIDE and LIMBO). Don't get me wrong, it has it's flaws, such as some really gamebreaking bugs at the boss battle (getting fixed soon!) and a lot of the models just don't look quite right (animations aren't amazing either). But there's definitely quite the potential there, hence why I give a positive review.
Another thing I want to point out; I had to complete the game twice before the achievement popped. Might wanna try fixing it a bit.

This Child Of Mine is a free game (well, actually, it's a work in progress) involving a single mother during an alien invasion. She's alone with her child and avoiding abduction by aliens while carrying an alien parasite with a snarky sense of humor. At this point in time, you're treated to a 10-15 minute project before you face a short boss battle.

The controls are about average, though the movement feels a bit strange as the game is telling you to run, but the fastest you can move is a basic walking speed. Eventually, you get a grappling hook and a parasite that is able to hack into alien blob locks.

Favorite aspect? The writing behind the alien parasite. It's very humorous to listen to and it's by far my favorite part of this game so far. Guaranteed laughs imminent!

Now, there are a few problems that I encountered while playing this game. During the boss battle, I would face the boss and click an object that's supposed to fall and hit its head. Strangely, it enters a hacking mode and zooms in to the point where you cannot complete the hacking sequence (which shouldn't even be cued at that point...this leads to a gamebreaking bug). There's also the chapter selection screen which doesn't scroll if you want to jump to another part of the game.

So, worth your time? Of course. It's short and it's free. Sure it's a little bugged (and a work in progress, meaning it may go farther if its Kickstarter gets enough funding), but it's an average little platformer with some charm. Worth looking into for sure.
