there is a cheat engine table you can download to give you infinite health in the meantime if you want

If you're having a lot of trouble, you're probably doing it the hard way. Try doing something else and coming back later after you've explored more.

Or if you want more direct hints, do you have the flute? Have you made it to the warp room? After it starts chasing you, immediately warp to the warp room and just wait there until it shows up, then take the warp that is close to the mock disc altar. You'll have more than enough time to get there before it catches back up to you. Also, you can throw fireworks to distract it, if it does catch up to you before you get there.

Yes, I do have flute and I know about warp room, I just don't want to make pixel perfect jumps on timer.

There are no pixel perfect jumps to do, though. Most of them have a relatively wide range to make it.

4 lifting blocks with vines in the end are pixel perfect enough for me.

go do those jumps without the dog chasing you a couple times and its ez
also make sure you know where youre going once you make those jumps cause I died right after lol
Magmatic May 11, 2024 @ 8:46pm
there's nothing even close to a pixel perfect jump in this entire game lol the platforming is overall quite easy

I don't care, this game design is just not for me.

bruh, there's jumps that are right at the edge of maximum distance just before getting the bubble wand. if there's any further than that, I'll likely never finish this.

IMHO It's a dark design where the developer intentionally makes a mandatory piece of the game much more difficult than it is fun so that they end up with more hours played on Steam. It may or may not be against the law in several western countries depending on if you can prove that the sequence contributed significantly to the total playtime on Steam through an inflated difficulty,

The reality though is that most people will probably give up at that part, which is roughly two hours in.

I do not think I would have had any problem with the dog race if not for the block jumping puzzle in the way. There really should be a shortcut to get past that one and then its fine.

Difficulty spikes are not "dark design" but a normal part of game design.

Use the flute people - you can basically remove the dog from the chase scene for so long with it that you have all the time in the world for that room. My reflexes are decrepit and even I could handle the dog chase in time, but with that, you can basically do these jumps with the dog away for a LONG time, removing the stress entirely.

It's silly to call the chase sequence dark design. As others have mentioned the game gives you more than enough tools to deal with the chase. You can...

...go through the entire section without the disc, steal the mock disc at the end of the section, and replace the real disc with the mock one so you don't have to get chased. This does mean you can't get the flame right away, but there's always the warp portal method others have described when you're ready to come back later. Point being your progress isn't stalled here if you don't want it to be.

Dark design refers to intentional manipulation. Given the game was made by a single person, I doubt he was thinking of ways to screw over his players for a few extra hours of game time.
