The Bubble Jump Mechanic is proposital?
I discovered by accident and I feel like... I shouldnt know this move so soon? Or maybe it shouldn't exist? I feel too powerfull knowing such a simple but god like technique

I don't know, this game is weird (but in a good way)

It's known and intended.

I still not sure if it's intended. Cuz it's too broken. Especially when there's an upgraded version of Bubble Wand.

It's required for some of the speedrun rewards, so the dev certainly took it into account.

The developer has stated on many occasions that it is intended. Though it is not necessary to complete the main portion of the game, you certainly can use it - however, I would recommend using it sparingly until you have completed the main portion of the game if you plan on "100%ing" it, as bypassing rooms/puzzles may also make you skip a collectable item.

Even if it is intentional, I feel like I spoiled the game for myself quite a bit by figuring out this move too soon. I had to constantly pretend I didn't know to do it otherwise I could skip a ton of puzzles... If it was up to me, I'd remove just the mechanic, honestly.

It's definitely intended, I didn't figure it out right away but you don't need to know it and there's sections where the bubble will pop because of birds, vines or whatever, I only figured it out because I saw someone say "once you figure out the bubble jump you'll get up there". Think of it like the wall jumping in Super Metroid, you can do it right away but you might play for hours not knowing about it.

"Required for speedrun"
Yeah, so is cheating in one way or the other...
Still feels broken that you can bypass so many puzzles by just bubble jumping past them...
Like... that one door next to the dog, i think you need to get past something, on a rather long route, taking like... minutes! Or you know... you just jump over it!

Love the mechanic and how it works gameplay wise, but it SURE feels like cheating! But man... Don't compare speedruns to normal gameplay, especially when the dev even said "You were not supposed to ever solve the game"

I have never seen so many people on a game forum who thought that an obvious movement tech was a glitch or unintended. The timing for it is incredibly generous, there are multiple things in-game you can't do without it (except with a crutch that the game is willing to give you late in the game if you've died dozens of times), and there are guards in place to prevent you from using it to skip certain puzzles.

Stuff like this is what makes Metroidvanias/puzzle-platformers good. You're supposed to figure out tricks that make solving puzzles easier.

its definitely intended, one of the first rooms i found, after finding the bubbles, all the way to the right of the cranes, absolutely requires it. thats basically the training grounds for it in my eyes. its still hard to do, enough that relying on it vs doing the actual puzzles isnt really the best option but its good to have when youre frustrated by a puzzle you cant figure out, and want to come back to.

Oh look, it's the "bubble jump isn't intended, right?" thread again. Quick, someone go make another "I don't trust any of your reviews because memes, now someone convince me to buy this game" thread.

It's an intended mechanic, but you're NOT intended to figure it out on your first playthrough. Same as stuff like wall jumping in Super Metroid. Classic metroidvania design.

I'm glad I didn't figure it out though and if I did I wouldn't have used it, as it absolutely breaks the game. It's a little too easy to do for a movement tech this powerful, and it sucks that people constantly spoil it for new players and kind of ruin their experience.

Perhaps I'm just not so good with the timing but I tried using it to explore a large vertical gap in the main area and still keep either shooting a bubble in the opposite direction than where I want to go next or overshoot my jump. I had three flames and most of the map explored already by the time I figured it out.

I also discovered it very early and felt like I was cheesing the game XD. First thing I did by chance was go left out of the beginning area and happened to stumble into the bubble wand. Played with it for a bit but then I noticed the swan room and wondered how to get across. That's when I noticed if I jumped and blew a bubble at the same time I could chain jumps indefinitely with the right movement. I managed to grab the bunny that was hidden back there using that technique (which I think was the intended way)

I actually managed to get to the "top" of the well this way by bubble jumping with the basic bubble wand. The owl blocked me in but I suppose I could still grab lantern and go into that area without beating the final boss. I did grab the pedometer that way before beating the boss.

With basic wand I noticed the easy way was to press both buttons simultaneously, but the slightly harder way was faster if you jumped and then pressed the button about halfway up your jump.

Even if it is intentional, the feedback I'd suggest Billy needs to take on board is that a lot of players clearly _think_ that it's a broken mechanic that has spoiled their experience, and that's really all that matters.
I've barely started playing the game but immediately discovered the bubble wand's ability to apparently traverse straight across most rooms - skipping what looked like the intended solution, and came here to check whether I should await a patch or not. I paid for a puzzle game - and now I'm not sure if I'm cheating myself.

My own suspicion is that it was a design feature, but probably expected to be harder to discover/implement. I'm going to carry on playing the game, but I have to confess it's sort of soured my initial excitement in it.

wtf you and me had literally the exact same start. I did the same, I felt like a genius using the bubbles lol. But I thought I was doing it the "right way" and the game was just very hard...
