Yeah, so is cheating in one way or the other...
Still feels broken that you can bypass so many puzzles by just bubble jumping past them...
Like... that one door next to the dog, i think you need to get past something, on a rather long route, taking like... minutes! Or you know... you just jump over it!
Love the mechanic and how it works gameplay wise, but it SURE feels like cheating! But man... Don't compare speedruns to normal gameplay, especially when the dev even said "You were not supposed to ever solve the game"
Stuff like this is what makes Metroidvanias/puzzle-platformers good. You're supposed to figure out tricks that make solving puzzles easier.
I'm glad I didn't figure it out though and if I did I wouldn't have used it, as it absolutely breaks the game. It's a little too easy to do for a movement tech this powerful, and it sucks that people constantly spoil it for new players and kind of ruin their experience.
I actually managed to get to the "top" of the well this way by bubble jumping with the basic bubble wand. The owl blocked me in but I suppose I could still grab lantern and go into that area without beating the final boss. I did grab the pedometer that way before beating the boss.
With basic wand I noticed the easy way was to press both buttons simultaneously, but the slightly harder way was faster if you jumped and then pressed the button about halfway up your jump.
I've barely started playing the game but immediately discovered the bubble wand's ability to apparently traverse straight across most rooms - skipping what looked like the intended solution, and came here to check whether I should await a patch or not. I paid for a puzzle game - and now I'm not sure if I'm cheating myself.
My own suspicion is that it was a design feature, but probably expected to be harder to discover/implement. I'm going to carry on playing the game, but I have to confess it's sort of soured my initial excitement in it.
wtf you and me had literally the exact same start. I did the same, I felt like a genius using the bubbles lol. But I thought I was doing it the "right way" and the game was just very hard...
