How to handle armor & weapons upgrades?
So my dilemna is that I find myself needing to micro-manage my armor and weapons.

If I choose to stick to a certain outfit, then I am constantly looking to find resources and money solely to farm for upgrading my armor. About 50% of my gameplay is consumed with upgrades and 50% actual gameplay.

On the other hand if I decide to stop upgrading a specific set, and simply go with what the mission and the game give me as loot, I find myself consumed with constantly having to switch my armor and my weapons.

How do you guys handle this? What am I doing wrong?

Get in the habit of looting/resource farming while doing missions.

When it comes to unwanted gear, dismantle armor and sell weapons, except for swords and daggers, those should be dismantled.

Remember you can buy materials from the shops as well, and Drachmae isn't exactly hard to come by.

Yes, thank you, that is pretty much what I've been doing. I am not having difficulty keeping up, just the keeping up turns into a mini-game of sorts in it's own right. I guess I don't enjoy weapons/ armor upgrade simulator games as much as some people do.

Upgrade it once every 5 level or just upgrade the weapon.

Dismantle everything except bow, bow provide most cash.

If you aim to equip a full set, try to aim for specific level before you collect the gear. I wait till I reach level 85 before I grab the last piece of my pirate set so my entire pirate set would automatically level up to 85.

Well, I am just using the Enzio armor set that came with the game since level 1.

If you don't plan to use hero strike ability often, then it is better to use epic gear you found occasionally.

No, I never use that. I think it might be to late to switch I am at level 31 now.

Is not too late to switch to any gear you desire... Gear isn't soo effective when it's level was 5-10 behind your current level. This is more so when you are playing with heavy scale.

However, bear in mind that Hero Strike is very powerful ability because it based on your assassin damage. With 25% critical chance engraving, it can destroy any boss with 1-3 hit easily.

Run assassination which deals damage unrelated to your weapon damage. Upgrade armor every x1 levels to increase trait bonusses (armor value is close to useless and bonuses goes up only at lvls 11, 21, 31...). If you want to slash or shoot, upgrade your weapon every now and than, with mentioned armor upgrading, you should have tons of material.

Using legendary armor is good only at beginning, once you start getting epic gear, you should gear epics.

Just raid big forts and enemy outposts and kill everyone there. You will get plenty of loots there. Especially from the Elite enemies, they often drops super expensive items. Just sell them in the shop to earn lots of cash. One big Fortress raid can give enough cash to upgrade all your gears for next 3 to 4 times.

You know that you can change the look of any armor at any time you want right?

Oh ok, for some reason I thought legendary was better than epic.

Not sure I am following. I am not aware of changing the cosmetics of the armor. Is there a benefit, other than cosmetics?

Oh ok, for some reason I thought legendary was better than epic.

"Problem" with legendary items is that they have only 1 (fixed) trait + engraving slot, while epic items got 2 "random" traits + engraving. To get armor set bonus you need all 5 items equiped, which means its 5 extra traits on elite gear vs 1 legendary bonus (+ legendary items got fixed traits and often one you dont want).
So once you start getting epics, you should switch to them for better bonuses. That goes for armor, weapons are often better legendary (you dont need whole set to get its bonus and they got higher dps).

You can change how your equipped gear look like by right clicking equipped gear, it would show a list of gear you can change it's look.

To end your dilemna, you just dont upgrade your armor and weapons constantly and just upgrade it once every 7 or 10 levels (if you did not find already a better armor set or weapons set).
EbonHawk Aug 13, 2021 @ 10:00pm
NOT upgrading your stuff constantly is one of the ways to make the game more challenging. When you can no longer win, or it takes too much time, then travel and get it upgraded. But wait until the game encourages you to do it, instead of focusing on that yourself. It was much more enjoyable for me, doing it that way.
