Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

İstatistiklere Bak:
AC: Odyssey is overrated.
The plot is shallow. The quests are repetitive. The characters are unfun. The environment is big yet lacks in-depth content. Seriously I would just play Witcher 3 instead.

Well, I have a few things to say about AC:O. Also, I haven't play AC since ACII, no DLC's, and that was when those games were originally released.

I got this game on sale some months back, but it's only been this July 4th weekend I actually took the time to play it. I've put in maybe three or four hours, and already, I can tell I'm not going to enjoy it.

Why?

1. The story-telling is just silly, edgy-teenager stuff. I'm too old for Ubisoft's brand of story-telling. When some of you kids get older, you'll understand. I don't expect anyone to relate to what I'm saying. But that's just how it is. The writing is Sophomoric drivel. And no, I'm not talking about "the plot." I have no idea what the plot even is, but I can tell just by how the game handles the story so far that it's not going to be very exciting.

2. Gear hunting. Fifteen minutes in the game, and I suddenly remembered what I hated about Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. Finding the weapons and all that gear-score stuff. It just isn't fun. It's time-wasteful crap. That's just all there is to it. There's a bunch of crafting/upgrading mechanics in this game, and it's just there to waste your time.

This is what turned me off to Witcher 3. I hate that too, because everything else about that game was done correctly so far as I can tell. I just don't have time for these superfluous tasks anymore, because they aren't fun. How many games do we have to play that does this before we realize it? Apparently, we gotta play 20 years worth of them. And so, that's me. Just give me a sword and let me engage the actual content. You know, like how the original AC games did it--like how Prince of Persia did it before. Wonderful games without the bullcrap.

This is something the Far Cry series does correctly. There are attachments and stuff, sure. But you aren't forced to constantly hunt down and maintain and upgrade and mess around with inventory nonsense. You just play the game. Ubisoft's treatment of Open World is good enough that you don't need this filler crap.

3. I don't like the controls. I guess AC has always been like this to an extent. The controls have always been somewhat "different." Maybe I'm just not that into the game enough to want to deal with the hassle, but I don't remember the earlier games being this auto-piloty. I can't sprint. I can't jump. All I do is press W or Z and when I want to get over something, I hold SHIFT. That's it.

Combat isn't that engaging. I spam LMB until the enemy flashes, then I press SPACE. What's the big deal? I don't feel there is any strategy to this at all. I don't feel there is any tension. It's not even that hard, unless I'm not high enough level. Speaking of which...

4. I don't really have anything against levels. In this game, the levels really only exist for three reasons: 1) To gear lock you, 2) to Perk lock you, 3) to Content lock you. I already don't care for the gear mechanics, and I don't have anything against the Perks really. Those usually add a lot of depth to the game. What I don't like is Content locking. Why? Because it forces game length that you wouldn't otherwise have to do. What do I mean?

At the beginning of the game, you gotta kill that dude who is hunting you: Talos. I fought the dude for at least an hour trying to kill him at level 3. I did absolutely nothing to him. He just basically wiped the floor with me. I gave up and decided I wasn't high enough level. No big deal.

I come back a little later at level 4, and while he was still quite difficult, I was able to take him down after only a few tries. Why is this a problem for me?

Because I was still using the same equipment and skills as I was when I was level 3. So that basically told me that there was a hidden stat I had no control over except to level up. And well... I don't much care for that. This isn't an MMO. You don't need those superfluous gates. Let me do what I want to do.

Anyway, I can tell AC:O is a decent game. I mean, some folks, what I wrote, maybe it doesn't bother them so much. But for me, that's why I don't like it. I just cannot play games that feature these superfluous aspects. I can overlook great story-telling, however. Yeah, I know. "STORY!" But a game is a game, first. If I am having fun with the game, then I can engage more with the story. And I can forgive a lot, because it's a game first. I can deal with less than stellar story-telling. I cannot deal with gameplay that isn't fun.

You can still make assassinations. you can sneak up on enemies or kill them from above. That is what this franchise is all about. I doubt you ever played AC Origins nor AC Odyssey, period.
And it's extremely stupid. Wearing Greek armor with that shiny helmet and assassin people from behind? OK.

Haha this was exactly what I was imagening when playing the game 🤣 *clink clonk clank* *you dont see me coming...* It is quite rediculous

This is the only Assassin's Creed I have enjoyed. If I want good story I'll do a JRPG or listen/read a book. I almost always have an audio book going.

Far Cry games are very soso and this seems like an above average Far Cry game. I don't like level limits on gear(that is more of an MMORPG thing) but I'll live.

If that is the case, you never enjoyed Assassin’s Creed to begin with.

This game isn't really Assassin's Creed so i guess they expanded their audience. Black Flag was the same, more a pirate game than anything else. Full warrior is the way to go in Odyssey, once I accepted that i found the game good, just not a good Assassin's Creed.

any good jrpg book u can recommend?
*tear* not recently. I think all the okayish ones are on Nintendo. FF7 remake sounds good but I'm waiting for all the episodes to be released and by then I'll know it its coming to PC. Ya FF7 remake everyone is saying good things but they have changed some important story elements and combat is very different. I hate that they put difficulty on FF7 remake. Do not put difficulty on a game that has levels just let us out level the content.

i dont know, assassin damage is definitely the highest damage and if you can pull off a drop assassination on a powerful opponent it is a one hit kill with the right perks. I also think height plays a role in the damage although im still experimenting so im not sure, so correct me if im wrong.
op needs some girl. serious case

Witcher 3 offers nothing better than other story driven games. Matter infact god of war 2018 is wayyyyy better In every single aspect. But live in your bubble guy

I have some of the assasine games and have played the old ones on their respective times as well as the witcher.... I like assasins creed more because it helped me in my history classes XD I just had to ignore all the stabby n slashy the the timelines would would well for class, the witcher is a good game but I could never get used to the controls, yes the controls are different but thats only becaues they are made to be stealthy about everything lol, not just rush in, its about using your bird to tell you how everyone is moving in the camp you are about to attack and methodically take everyone down one by one.
I personaly think its the best game Ubiosft has made as of yet..... im a bethesda fan becaues I love huge maps to fool around in on, and the relatablilty of the main character: lets you choose from female to male, lets you choose who dies in the story and who lives, it has different endings that does not affect how histroy ends things. If you disliked the bounty hunters after you just pay the damn bail or kill the sponsors XD no big deal, I personaly found out they had perks to offer in my ship if I defeated them and hired them so I naturaly went hunting them down and made my ship liducrusly invinsible and its so satisfying to see ships get cut in half when you literaly speed up through them. You feel like a frick god all along waging desrtruction in a sea strom.... I just hoped my ship had thunderdrums to pace the beats of the rowers like in the origins game, that made the combat at sea more epic. idk I there are so many ways to take down enemies without them knowing it was you: that is also very satisfying for me, the feeling you get when praying down on unsuspecting warriors and one by one getting snuffed and hiding the bodies in bushes until the camp is deserted... I guess this game is more Hunter personality rather than upfront warrior, in the witcher games I played you made your presence known and you just fight through and through... for me that got repetetive and I could not finish most of the games. there are missions in assasines where you have no choice but to be upfront with your enemies Examlpe: hunt the boar/ all god animals. Those things are slash sponges and the big guy has friends to deal with you so you have to not only be upfront but multitask by dodging all 6 npcs trying to ram you giving you little to no time to chip at the boss life... hence why I changed dificulty to a lower one and was able to go through with it, then I changed it right back up and keept going from there: guess what Im saying is that the game gives you options ins the settings you so can customize it you your style of playing. Remember if a game stresses you out it stopped being a game and started to be a problem, if that happens try changing settings to your liking, if that doesnt work mod the game to your liking if you can, if that doesnt work then just dont play that game since its not for you ;p. There are plenty out there, you just have to find the one that "tickles your fancy" and you will enjoy it...
^^ Yea I wish there was a way to add the drums back on the ship like origins had. Shanties for peace time sailing, drums for wartime sailing.

God of War 2018 is incredible.

The Witcher 3 has interesting quests but it lacks the interface and combat of other triple A games.

that's what i was getting at, no doubt witcher 3 is GOOD, but i think GoW is just better in every single way
Delta u could not explain this in a short way better than how u did. I had to do this for reasearch study reasons, it was a horrible chore. Origins is tons of times better and it's not true that combat is bad, u just play in easy (u will need 2-3 hits to be killed and same for enemies) and it's much more realistic than what it has been shown EVEN in Valhalla next chapter.

The franchise is clearly going worse and worse... towards more streamlined experience.
Playing Origins no HUD is not possible always, I will play Unity after this and then stop, I know that UNITY has a fantastic PLAYER skill controlled parkour, fluid and cinematographical and there are tons of realistic Thriller moments unlocking doors etc.

Anyway Origins is tons of times better in content. If u play no HUD Bayek turns head to investigate things. If u hold by a fire it looks at you "breaking the 4th wall" ..

I understand that tons of "gamers" play this and don't understand what this means.
Quality is not understood from all, it's normal...

This game has tons of over looked Institutional Documents, Mythology and Classical Sources not researched and so much that it stinks...
The repository reuse... omg, it is painful to see spartans oplites using Chinese For Honor warrior animation\moves... I hate that.
