Music too loud/overdriven
Hi, I just purchased UoC II and have been enjoying my first steps in the game very much. However, immediately when playing the tutorial I noticed that the music and some of the sound effects appear to be playing at too high levels maybe 30 percent of the time and therefore sound somewhat distorted. I checked the volume settings in-game and in Windows but even lower settings only reduced the output volume but not the internal peak level. So it still sounds distorted only at a lower volume. Is this normal or is there a known workaround? Thank you!

FYI: I have a standard Creative Labs sound card (Sound Blaster X G6) and usually don't have any audio problems.

Hi, I've seen one or two reports like this but I do not understand why this might be happening.

You might want to fiddle with the sampling frequency (ours is 44k) and bit precision (our is 16bit) in your soundcard driver and see if that changes anything. This helped one user who had similar problems with a realtek driver. If you have any luck, please report back.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply. I did as you suggested and tested various settings but, alas, it only improved the quality a tiny bit. In any case, I had already found a volume setting where it's not so intrusive but the music still provides some nice atmosphere. The game is so amazing, I don't even mind anymore. Congratulations :)

A bit late maybe, but this worked for me: Try and turn on Windows Sonic for Headphones and/or disable Windows Sound Enhancements. I still need to tone down the volume a little, but that help with the otherwise unbearable overdrive.

Thanks for the reply. In the meantime I moved to Linux where the problem also doesn't appear. But I hope your solution helps somebody else in the future. :)

The music distortion bug is still there preventing me to fully enjoy the game. Really hoped finally a fix would come with the filnal DLC make this experience complete. Shame is that it persists since the vanilla release and no attempts were made to eliminate it. Tried all suggested options, but the OST really needs some proper remastering.

Yes, same for me. Music is crackling and always has since the game was released.
