Can't get game to open.
Hey team,

Haven't been able to even open the game for some time, thought I'd try again. When I try in steam, the play button turns to pause for a moment, then back to play. No game ever opens. When I navigate to the file folder and open uo2.exe, i get the below error. I tried pasting the log.txt location into explorer (windows 10) and it said it couldnt' find the file.

The procedure entry point mkl_aa_fw_get_workdivision could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\United of Command 2\lib\numpy\core\mkl_intel_thread.dll"

I made another post about this a while back. I'll try and find the link and paste below as its the exact same problem I had before.

Edit: I've added exclusions to windows defender (tried both the uo2.exe only and the whole Unity of Command 2 folder) and I'm still not able to open the game or generate a log.txt file.

Hi, this is not a virus issue, more likely a "dll hell" one. Please check whether you have any DLLs starting with "mkl_" in your Windows/System32 folder.

Here is a report of a similar issue created by software called "Amplitube" installing such DLLs:
https://github.com/ContinuumIO/anaconda-issues/issues/8561
Thank you for the response! I don't have any .dll's in my Windows/System32 folder beginning with mkl. I do however have an empty folder named mk-MK.

I don't have amplitube installed on my computer (never heard of it before today). :(

To try the antivirus angle again: do you have some other antivirus software installed, apart from Windows Defender? If so, you would need to add an exception for "uoc2.exe" to that software too.

Finally, please verify your local game files just in case:

Thank you! No luck :( I added an exception to malwarebytes as well, but that's the only other program i can think of that would be anti-virus esque :(

I'm bummed BUT not giving up. This game is too fun :) Let me know if you have any other ideas, if not I'll get it on the new computer :)
okay, when I google the error, it brings up a bunch of Python related errors. I have Anaconda3 installed. Could that be causing an issue?
unistalled the program still got the error. reinstalled UoC2, still getting the error.

Edit: Is there a reason my computer isn't generating a log? Does a log only generate when the program runs?

Edit II: Would installing it to another folder help? Is it possible to download/install the game outside of steam?

I think it must be something to do either with the Anaconda install, or something else Python, that is causing the game to load the wrong "mkl_" modules.

Maybe take a look if you have any environment variables set starting with PYTHON?

I don't see anything. I just see user ones for

There are a lot of system ones as well, but i'm not sure what any of these mean.

You should be looking for variables named PYTHONHOME, PYTHONPATH etc. in your environment variables (system ones too), anything with uppercase "PYTHON" in the name.

It might also help to do a search for any files beginning with mkl_ on your computer, and for any python interpreters (python.exe).

It's probably best not to post any of this information in a public forum. Please send it to us via email to support at unityofcommand dot net, and we'll take it from there.

Cheers!

Thank you! I had a feeling we were getting into the weeds a bit. I'll shoot an email over.

I really appreciate you taking the time and having the patience to help here. Unity of Command is such a great game.
