Desert Rats - Greece counterattack
literally, how to beat it?
Supply is terrible, common odds are 0:4, with arty preparation it still needs other divs to attack, but there is no space for them... and terrible supply to go for mountain flanks
this scenario is insane

You mean the first mission, right? I played on Normal and don't remember it being difficult. Yes, northern flank is very hard to supply, but AFAIR there is an opening with weak Italian troops there, I took the northern objective first. The main problem here is that mountains don't allow for supply or HQ to be moved near your troops. In the center and south you have to actively push your supply and HQs as close to your advancing troops as possible. Capturing optional objectives helps a lot. After that I encircled main objectives and waited until the enemy was out of supply. It might help to dash to the northern edge of the map and take cities there to cut all supply to Italians, but it's risky, because your own troops doing that will surely also lose supply. Also, use HQ resupply, this ability is going to be utilised VERY often in this DLC.
P.S. Jesus, that's a copious amount of "supply" word in such a short post. Guess it shows how important supply is in this game.

Yeah, the only real trick to this mission is to use HQ resupply and Feint Attack. Your troops aren't remotely strong enough to do frontal assaults. But soften the enemy up with 3 feint attacks first and all of a sudden you're attacking an enemy with 0 or 1 unsuppressed step.

Like Agent said, your HQs are the key. Use their abilities wisely - feint attack is the key ability here - it levels up your units and whittles down the enemy.

Other than that, do not push beyond Pogradec in the north. Leave one unit there to defend once you've taken it. The key to a great result in this mission is taking Sarande as soon as possible. That allows you to move up your supply depot and use your HQs as more than supply depots.

I didn't find this mission too easy. Yes, the main objectives are manageable but if you also want to get the bonus objectives, I think you really need some luck with the weather. If you don't get good weather in the north you can pretty much forget about your III. HQ which supports the relative majority of your troops in this scenario.

I tried this mission a couple of times and had a really good run, when suddenly RNG killed the supply to my HQ sitting in one of the major goal cities. This counted as having lost the city and I pretty much just went back to desktop because I was so frustrated.

But then, this is Unity of Command II and that's why it's so awesome. The frustration comes with the package. ;) Guess I just need to find a better strategy ...

Exaclty as agent said, using HQ is the only way to supply the north properly and you have to keep HQ close. I had a bug and couldnt move my northern HQ. But as Kev said an alternative is to not push too much and break through the middle and then go north.

I also patiently let the enemy run out of supply and encircle them when possible. Unless you really care for those secondary objectives. I started a video series on it if interested --> https://youtu.be/nvRKvJ4aq54

It's true that a badly timed bit of poor weather can make taking all objs on time impossible but that's been true of almost every scenario since initial release. That is apparently working as designed. Whether we like that randomness or not is obviously to personal taste.

I'll admit that once in a while I want to punch my monitor when a two-hex-wide storm appears on turn 13 of 13 in literally the ONLY place on the map which could prevent me from taking the last objective. I have on occasion had to get up and take a walk.
