Linux via Proton?
Hello, tried to play this game on Linux (Ubuntu) via proton, but sadly it crashes while loading. Has someone had more luck? Any ideas? I hesitate to refund it, for I like this kind of games.

I suggest to refund and wait until it works (as I will do). Maybe u can have also discount on that time.

Working for me perfectly (Fedora 30).

I cannot get it to work, and I've tried multiple solutions, such as installing VC_redist.x64 and Python.

Steam logs outputs this:

Fatal Python error: Py_Initialize: can't initialize sys standard streams
OSError: [WinError 6] Invalid handle

Googled the error message in search of a solution but still no luck.

For those that got it to work please post your configs and any tweaks or updates you might have done.

Thank you.

Is there any blocker for an actual release? We got one for the first game.

Can anyone that has succeeded, or not, in running in Proton please post the proton logs?

For the logs to be created add « PROTON_LOG=1 %command% » to the "Set Launch Options" in the properties tab.

The UOC2 log will be in the user's home folder with the name "steam-809230.log".

Thank you.

From the reports I've seen the those with Ubuntu or Ubuntu based distros seem to not be able to run. Arch and Fedora don't appear to have problems. Even after the latest updates to the game and Proton, nothing has changed.

It would be helpful to look at the logs of those that can run to see what is different.

I suspect it's a driver or a library issue. Maybe there's something missing or needs updating in Ubuntu.

On my setup, it doesn't work with Manjaro 19, Fedora 31, Ubuntu 16.04, 18.04, 19.10 or 20.04. With the latest Proton (5.0-4) the error message is more readable than before. I did get it to work on openSUSE Leap 15.1, installing steam and steam tricks through the openSUSE games repository, though it crashed before finishing the Kasserine scenario, and since then it won't start, giving the same error message as the other distros. OpenSUSE Tumbleweed doesn't work either.

The game does work with Windows Steam through Wine.

I managed to run it on the Wine Steam (via Lutris) with the following settings:

Wine version: lutris-fshack-5.7-x86_64
DXVK & VKD3D Enabled (DXVK version 1.6.1L)
Esync Disabled

I hadn't seen anything wrong so far under this setup. Hope it help

I have just successfully installed and run Unity of Command 2 via steam using proton 5.0-9 on Kubuntu 20.04.
I hadn't tried for a couple of months, but no previous version would install.
