Honestly, this game died when it was sold to Gameforge, which is where all MMO's usually go to die. This game could have been the WOW killer but stupid decision after stupid decision destroyed this game. I was there since day one and it was great when it released, but it's descended to abandonware now. The fact Gameforge even keeps it running is astonishing. I wish RoM would return to it's former glory but a lot needs to be done for that to happen.

and this official one is a buggy cash grab. they banned me once for their own broken game bugs, i literally just clicked "attack" on a player through sw gate and killed them.
and got banned for a week after spending a few hundred bucks..
so yeah, wont be back.

It is playable, but has many problems with crashing engine and it is a cash grab, that's true. And there is no development of the game, they reuse item pictures, "new content" is only reusing known iterms with other colour and other stats. Events are regulary changed, but all ways the same ones, item shop is full of overpriced Items, which does not help much, most of it is not permanent but lend for short time or only consumable.

it is DEAD. So many flaws in the game. The same people I saw years ago are still the only ones playing. ALSO, you need to be RICH to get to the top of this game....So terrible when it comes to monetization.

Back in the day when it launched, i managed to spend 500$ in a month in it. (I regret it but oh well.)
I equipped my character like a proper p2winner and then finished a dungeon by myself while my party was chilling on the ground, face-down and all. Then i left this game not long after, never to return. Apparently buying power makes things boring. I doubt that the p2w aspect improved any since. But you're welcome to find out since apparently roughly 200 people still play this game.

the player base is ~100 players who have devoted thousands of dollars and thousand of hours playing the game who are the last string.. You see in this game someone doesnt just have one account then have 10 with 8 characters on each account to scam as much out of events as possible. So 100 players really means about 25

Well, if we're talking about private servers, then people should just play Vanilla WoW private servers, since it's objectively a higher quality experience for absolutely free compared to what RoM will never be.
