Hi guys, here's your favourite ball-breaker.
I have already wrote two reviews way more thorough and extensive on the other games developed with this same Unity system, ASCII minimalistic black and white design and so on - one's a clone of Tetris and the other one a half-clone of Pong.
This game, of course, is a clone of Snake.
As usual for what concerns the games published by this developer, the only settings available are those regarding full-screen or windowed mode and sound effects (which mean muting a stupid minimalistic track taken for free from who knows where).
So you can't remap your controls, but all the games made by this or these developers have no tutorial or help sections at all so you've got to manually figure out everything by yourself.
Fortunately, this crap is even shorter than the other two games.
It consists of a single level of Snake, in which you control a small snake made up by ASCII characters like everything else and you're confined into a rectangle - so you can't exit the screen from the right and come back from the left and so on.
If you hit the wall, you instantly die and restart. The counter on the upper part of the screen just keeps you aware of how many balls (they should be apples or similar things but here everything's a black and white undistinguishable mess) you collected.
As in the original Snake games, the more things you collect the longer your snake becomes. But there's no difficulty curve, there will be no bonuses to collect at all or anything else. Just a new ball appearing after you collected the one before it. You'll become longer and stop, no different levels, nothing.
The worse part of the game (apart from the fact that it's an achievement spam game and you can't run it in tray, so you've got to have it on your screen if you want it to run) are the controls: you can use only A and D which will make your snake steer left and right, which is very strange and annoying.
In the original games or in the tons of free clones that you'll find on every website you'll move in different ways of course, here you can basically make a circle and keep going around or just well.. you can't control your movements by going in the four directions, making it easier to extend your snake by making it stretch vertically and turning in a parallel way - you just can hit A or D to turn like if you were driving a car.
Apart from other bugs, being this an achievement spam game of course if you play it windowed or have a small screen, everything that will appear in the lower right section will be covered by the achievement spam (3 per time as usual, going on for like 2 hours).
So, if you like our old '90s mobile Snake or similar games, you'll find tons of games similar to it or with lots of twists basically everywhere on the Internet, paying for such a load of crap is completely insane as I would be if I recommended a thing like this one, made in 10 minutes just to justify a spam of achievements.
(Yes, I'm insane and I've got lots of other issues too.. ahahah xD)

Snake game with strange controls and physics bugs

Positive:
+ Snake
+ Easy 100% achievements (half an hour should be enough, my playtime is longer because I used it as a lobby waiting game)

Negative:
- Strange controls: usually, in snake games you directly control the movement direction, ie "up" will make the snake move upwards on the screen. Here, you'll steer the snake left and right with A and D (non-remappable)
- Bugged snake movement: your snake will slightly but noticeably move upwards
- When the target spawns under achievement notifications, you're kind of screwed
- Nothing original, no progression, no opponent: only one level with your growing snake and a point, and repeat
- Settings are not retained from one launch to the next (if you mute the music, you'll have to mute it again next time you run the game)

I like the ASCII design and the omnidirectional snake movement of this game. But there's a flaw here, in that you don't have to touch the outer walls or yourself to die. I've died and restarted a number of times for no reason, which makes getting leaderboard scores pretty annoying.

This ASCII Game Series has some of the best achievement spam titles on Steam, and that's because they're classics remade in a different art style to feel fresher. This game cost me 4 cents, 10 cents without the bundle group buy, and probably 49 cents on a sale. There's not much here, but there are far worse games to spend your card money on.

Possibly the best game ive ever played and ive played a few.
