Hmm. It sounds like your steam library didn't download all the new files. Try doing this:

-right click on the game
-select "properties"
-select "local files"
-select "verify integrity of game files"

This will check your version of the game to the version on Steam's server, and make any appropriate updates.

Let me know if that works!

I did it first thing. Also deleted old save. And completely downloaded the game again.

The game does not like all my achievements.

Could you navigate to the Gemini Rue folder on your desktop and take a screencap of all the files that are there? (right-click on game, select "properties", select "local files", select "browse local files") I'm curious to see if you have all the right files.

I have the same problem. I am trying to run on laptop. I uninstall and install fresh game but the error is still there. Do i have to chnage something in configuratiion?

edit:

This doesn't work for me:

1- Right-click on the game in your Steam library
2- Select "Properties" and go to the "Beta" tab
3- Enter the password "geminirueold"
4- select the beta version "original" from the drop down list.

John, when you say you "do not have it 2015", what exactly do you mean? If you mean that you don't have MicroSoft Visual C++ 2015, you might have to install it.

Yes, i mean on MS visual c++ 2015. I thought game has to install all what it need to start correctly. I will try to install. Can you post me here exactly link which i have to install?

I'm having the same problem here. When running the game an error window appears with the exact same error as "DejaVu" posted initially.
I had been playing the game before the update without any problem.
I have reinstalled, checked integrity of files, tried the beta original, installed visual c++2015 and nothing seems to work.
Error might be something about achievements? "AGS2::IsAchievementAchieved^1"

You probably need to install both x64 and x86 versions of C ++.

I have the same problem of Dejavu, and I've installed both x64 and x86 versions of C ++ and still not working.... Idk what else can I do, I just have played only 18 minutes of this game and then came that damn update

Yeah, I did it with the code "geminirueold", but When I try to open it, a message appears saying "An error ocurred while updating Gemini Rue (missing executable)"
