Reviews are in, and they aren't great
Not the worst game ever by any means, sitting at about 70 percent at Metacritic

Don't really give a damn about critic reviews, they're all bought and paid for. I'm watching a stream of it right now and it looks great, gonna wait for user reviews and to see if there's launch issues though.

Metacritic scores are pay to win. Exhibit A: Dragon Age Veilguard.

Just because this studio doesn't have the marketing budget to buy a bunch of fake review scores from the fake journalists who work at Metacritic's fake ("trusted") websites doesn't mean the game is bad.

Ah, the go-to excuse for the feeble minded who are easily pleased by inferior games.

If there's one thing I don't give a damn about, it's Metacritic ratings.

Isnt 70 pretty good?
IMO one should never play any game below an 80 score.

For me, it's anything below 70 (apart from No Man's Sky and Talisman). So, I'm still hopeful for this game.
I’ll just wait for the beta tester reviews.

Aka those that pre-ordered on Steam.

Wait until you play it, it's definitely woke

metacriric after about 2018 isnt trustworthy anyway.

The Steam page says "In-App Purchases". I don't see it mention in the reviews. Are they implementing an in-game shop for microtransactions or something like that?
it might be for the dlc packs and expansion.

The legacy shill media critics are corrupt to the core. The best criticism at this stage is the Steam Aggregate and even that's thoroughly flawed. To make a good decision you have to watch let's plays and see Steam Aggregate as well as read the "helpful reviews".

"Give me jesters, let's review bomb a game I haven't played just because" is all I'm seeing...

No, because like every other thing out there, they're biased as anyone would probably be. I've played games rated lower than 7 and found them phenomenal, but got rated poorly by some/group of shmuck(s) because of silly, juvenile things. There's this word called "subjective", so you might want to check up on it.

And yeah, most reviews are paid for. If you think otherwise then you are either completely out of touch with reality or willfully ignorant.

It's on gamepass for free
But it's not free... If you have to pay to access something, it's not free, as soon as you cancel your subscription and stop paying, you don't have access to it, then it's not free

Care to back up that claim with some hard evidence? I actually know people who write game reviews irl, all of whom have been working in the industry for years and none of them have ever been offered money by a publisher for positive reviews or know anyone else who has. Most of them can barely make rent and are reliant on Patreon or VPN and Manscaped sponsorships to make ends meet.

Publishers might try to manipulate reviews through other means, like embargoes or not sending out review codes. But straight up giving money for a 9 or 10 score? Nah, that’s pretty damn rare, not unprecedented, but very rare.

Publishers are much more likely to just sponsor streamers to stream their game for them, which is generally a much better way of showing the game off to audiences then through written reviews.
Bleh! Mar 23 @ 5:14am
The two reviewers I trust both say it's great, but don't expect fallout it's a much more linear structured game than it first seems. I think that's why people seem a bit disappointed, however I don't know why, because my hot take is that the fallout series hasn't been good since New Vegas.
Worth a look on gamepass then I guess,

I wasn't going to risk it with a score of 76, but it does look cool I might like it.
