Tomb Raider: Anniversary

Tomb Raider: Anniversary

Anniversary vs. the original
I just bought all 10 of the tomb raider games and I am wondering if I should play the original before anniversary. I am also wondering if it is worth playing both or if it would just be like playing the same game twice.

If you play the first one you'd still want to play Anniversary since there are enough differences. And you would play the first one (a) if you want to play the first six and get quite a lot more gaming and/or (b) if you want to live what the Tomb Raider old timers lived. What I think I'd do if I had all the games and had never played any of them before is, out of weakness of will, spend up to an hour or two on each of the newer ones, just because I couldn't wait to get a sense of what they looked like and then, out of purist compulsive disorder, play all of the original set with the classics with minimal walkthrough help. Sometimes it'll be an extreme pain, but you'll definitely develop an unforgettable set of memories playing the first six.
thanks I will give it a try
is it a remake or a completely new game?
shortstufdan, np.

CrazyCam, it's a remake as far as the places you go and some of the puzzles in their general form. Some people find it worth it because of its updated graphics, controls, new elements, and modified levels. But I can see how other people wouldn't like it because some parts require that you don't have anything better to do except perform a sequence 20-50 times until you finally get it right (something I don't remember about in the first game).
ok thanks man
I think that there are not the same game, so I dont compare them.
I*m unable to play the first 6 (5) due to Nostalgia. Leave the sixth out, trust me.
yeah heard 6 was really bad
Nostalgia is what would draw me back to them. They were all eerie to me in one way or another including the sixth, and that's mainly why I liked them. Unfortunately, maybe they simply couldn't have that effect anymore (the most important effect imo) on some people playing the games for the first time when the graphics are no longer at or near top of the line....

btw, there are still a few thoughtful and positive reviews for the sixth: {LINK ELIMINAT}
I do not agree with you. I played Tomb Raider when I was about 7 years old, replaying it now would overwrite my past associations with this game and the music with the current time. Thats why I try to not touch the old ones.
That wouldn't happen to me. I could see how it would with some people though.
Thats how the brain works. The synapses get overwritten. Happens to everybody.
I can retain the associations I've made while making new ones or reinforcing old ones. Your memories wouldn't be precise enough for any potential tragic loss, and if they were (even though they're not) they would've already been overwritten without having anything to do with the game.
Well, I was 7. Here is a fun Phenomenon: If you listen to a Song you heard many years ago you will rethink of the times when you heard it and have these associations in your brain. However when in my case for instance, adding it to iTunes and listening the song very often those associations get overwritten by the new times you listened to the song.

Same thing applies to basically everything. Doesn't mean that it will ALL be gone, but most of it. I'd like to keep it in my brain like it is.

Also, this is pretty offtopic ^.^
Yeah, I definitely wouldn't listen to any of the music outside of the game, especially TR1.... For the few times I know that I'll ever replay that game I'll always want that music to have the deep emotional effect it does on me....
