The only way is from the middle of the room, facing the hammer. All the other sides have little notches, that prevent the pushing.
So pull it back, align it right and then push it straight
As far as I can see I have the block lined up exactly central, right up against the pad, but can't move it any further - Lara lets go of the block if I try. As you say it's as if I've hit something invisible.
I've tried various different graphics settings in desperation but no joy. This is on Windows 7 64 bit.
So turns out my solution was far too complicated. Long story short: Just keep playing with 60fps but make sure that you enable vsync in the launcher at all costs. It makes the game so much more stable, hell i have no idea how i was able to enjoy this game without it. If you still get stuck 30fps will solve every other problem too but trust me as long as you have vsync enabled you should be in for a smooth, bug-free experience.
It took 8 years, 3 months and 10 days but you finally got the solution you always deserved. It's a blast with vsync because with it enabled every animation and pressure plate just really works as intended.
