PC Version Lacks Graphics Details
I was always playing on PC up to the point I could grab a used copy of the HD trilogy for PS3. I did already a comparison for Legend (X360 and PC) on YouTube. But I'm kinda surprised that AGAIN the PC version lacks details.

Here is a screenshot with maxed details of the PC version. Look at the dirt:

and the lighting:

Please tell that's my driver's (nvidia) setting or has something to do with my ingame settings. I want the PS3 graphics details but with SGSSAA/4k resolution on my PC.

Are there any tweaks to increase/restore the dirt- and lighting/shadow effects?

You are talking about Lara's model, I assume.

Indeed, Lara in the HD console version appear to rendered with more detail, but honestly, I myself prefer the PC version. I played the game with everything maxed out and I thought the game was beautiful, and to quote my friend it had "breathtaking sceneries" which I completely agree.

To me, the Lara in the HD console version look like like a zombie.

Well, not exclusively her model. The water looks better, the lighting and shadows (which both are seen on her modell, too, for that matter) and of course, yes, the bit higher polygons of her model.

Yes, the game is beautiful indeed. But I'm surprised it's even more beautiful on PS3/X360 when it comes down to graphical fidelity.

When you're talking about image quality (resolution, anti-aliasing) PC will always be superior. But that's not what I'm complaining about.

It seems that they just grabbed the PS2 version and ported it on PC whereas for Xbox 360 and PS3 they "remastered" it a little with additional features.

PS3 is a remastered version released 4 years later so the comparison is pretty much useless.

You should rather compare with the XBOX 360 version, which was released at the same time as the PC one.

I'm having problems with shadows not rendering (occasionally rendering in disconnected obscure places). Something to do with AA. It's not a major problem though. Everything else looks peachy considering it's nearly 10 years old...

It's not useless. It's stating a thing I've encountered and haven't noticed before (and by a whole google search not many people else). It's more like I wish the PC version had gotten a remaster of Anniversary like the PS3. If you want the Xbox 360. I just mentioned PS3 because that's the version I got.

But Remastered version is a different version and not the original game (if I'm right, PS3 didn't got the original one). I said the 360 version because the 360 don't have a remastered edition, only the original one.

Didn't know. I thought every next gen console (back then) got the pimped PS2 version of Anniversary.

PS3 missed some titles, which got released as remasters later. Basically, some Tomb Raider and some Splinter Cell.

You are essentially correct. Beauty is in the eye of beholder, though - I'd rather take the cartoonish Lara from PS2 over her uncanny valley version from PS3.

All versions of TR Anniversary are based on the PS2 original, but it does look as if the late-coming PS3 version got an extra coat of paint.

Personally, I played Anniversary first on Xbox 360, and am now re-visiting it on PC, and the only real differences I noticed were that the water effect on PC looks a bit suspect (I don't recall that weirdness with the "warping" water effect bleeding into foreground objects on 360) but I'm loving playing the game at 60fps on PC.

Oh yes, and I don't like the way the PC version insists on referring to mouse controls in the tutorial pop-ups even though I'm playing it with a gamepad! That's ... not helpful.

But, overall, I think the slinky 1080/60 gameplay I'm getting, even on my fairly elderly PC, outweighs any gripes. Gameplay is king, after all. The lighting on Lara's face *does* look nice in those PS3 screens, but - let's face it - most of the time while you're actually playing the game it's her rump that's to you.
