Can't save your game?

I was having problems saving the game - apparently the game created the save files, but then couldn't load them back, and always displayed an "unable to load profile" message. I'm on Windows 10 but it seems the problem appears on every Windows version.

Did some tests and discovered that to fix it I had to move the My Documents folder (where the game saves the profiles) from a secondary hard drive to the C: one.

Seems the game has troubles if your My Documents folder is not on the C: drive. Other stuff (installing the game on the C: drive, setting the Data Execution Protection to AlwaysOff) is unnecessary (but the game will crash if you set Data Execution Protection to AlwaysOn, the default Windows setting 'OptIn' is fine).

So if you're having the same problem try this and let me know if it works!

I set DEP to off and the game won´t load save games, but I see them in My Docs which is on my default C drive as is steam. I need to play around with these settings and see what works.

Creating a new profile has solved the problem so that RESUME GAME now appears.

I created a new profile, but the saves still won't work. Apparently this has been a problem from the begining... how can they sell games like this? Apparently I've lost all 4 hrs I played yesterday.

Edit: I renamed my save to autosave.TRASave and that worked.

It's a fairly old game now and I can't imagine it's being updated.

What worked for me was starting a new game, skipping the first two cutscenes, and then I was able to load my old game from the load menu.

I had this problem and I was afraid I was going to find a save game or start over from the beginning. This worked! Thank you!

Problem solved. It is the antivirus 'bitdefender in my case' that blocks the creation of backup files.It must go into the antivirus and unlock this rule.

dep works but it keeps telling me unable to load profile, the game is installed on C: and the doc folder is in the same drive but it doesnt work.

I don't use any antivirus other than the one Windows has integrated in it. I'ts a fully updated Windows 10. I can't even create a new profile.
