No disc error

Whenever I try to start a new game it just crashes to desktop and claims I have no disc. Being this is the digital only steam release I'd thought the lack of a disc would have been expected. I do own the game on disc also, but lacking a dvd drive I can't use that version anymore.

So far I have tried moving the game to the C: drive, varifying the game cahce and looking around online for a no cd crack all to no avail. I am stumped as to what to do?

It also wont let me create a save game profile.

My guess is that you installed and played it from your physical copy time ago and now something is left in the registry that mess up with the Steam version. If you can, try to run it from your Steam account on a different PC, or try to ask to someone you know well if they have an external DVD-readers that they don't need it for a while ; ) At worst and if you are still in time, a refund maybe won't hurts.

By the way, try to remove everything in the folder C:\Users\<your user>\Documents\Eidos\Tomb Raider - Anniversary\Default Profile if there are old saves.

I've upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8 and it still does the same thing. This is on a fresh install of Windows and a fresh download of the steam version of the game.

I'm not really sure if you can really consider it a fresh install of w10. Try on a different machine, that has never seen TRA before, and see if it keeps doing the same. It is just a check, not a solution.

Move the game to your C: drive if it isn't there already.

The primary HDD wouldn't happen to be an eMMC would it? I had this exact problem when trying to launch the game on a tablet that was otherwise perfectly capable of running it. Never resolved the problem.

ok fix the problem into the steam client, you have to check the download files. right click on game title and select the properties and go to local files and check the local files... that resolve the error for me,,,,
