Wall run (ugh)
This game has been around for quite a while so I'm not sure if anyone remembers the angst of wall runs. I'm unbearably frustrated with artifact #1 in the Obelisk of Khamoon (the 90 second long timed run with a switch that's a million miles away from where you need to go).

When (if) I reach the wall run portion, Lara springs backward *off* the wall, instead of jumping to the left handhold. I've always had this issue but it's been through sheer luck that I have made it this far with tossing the dice. This one is killing me so I suppose I should figure out the trick.

If it helps, I'm playing on a pc. I have noticed that sometimes I use the up + down button to wall run, whilst other times I use left + right. I have no idea why it keeps changing on me, but perhaps that's part of the issue? Lara rarely jumps in the direction I'm pressing so I must be doing something wrong. Any form help would be lovely as I'm about to toss the keyboard in front of a moving semi. (I've been at this, off and on, for two days.)

From what I know, Lara's movements are related to the camera position. So if you are wall-running with camera close to the wall up and down will make her to run on the wall (forward or backward) while left or right will make her to jump off (or maybe to come to a complete stop). If camera is away from the wall situation should be inverted with left/right making her to swing and up/down making her to jump off the wall. The right angle (wall-Lara-camera) where controls switch requires a bit of practice ^^'

Hopefully this was reasonably clear and of help : D Anyway that part is pretty difficult, most times I was dead for mistaking a jump or late to reach the pole -.-

Thank you! That actually does make sense, I just have to allow my mind some time to sort it all out. :D I'm having a difficult time adapting to this new-ish game; the controls/ camera feel awkward and clunky compared with the old school games.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone when it comes to this timed run. I've watched a few videos and people have left comments stating that it took 20 tries, yet here am I on my... 200th? :D It's an absolute beast and I know that if I ever do make that wall run jump, I'll probably miss a basic move immediately after. Sometimes I think I'm overthinking it and should just go about it casually. lol.

There is one more thing in this game that works pretty strange, the V-Sync option. While it should affects frame rate only, actually it affects game play itself. Your best bet is to compare what is happening in your game with a video guide and if something looks different then turn it On/Off from setup before to launch TRA ^^'

In my case it was always Off and T-Rex was never going into rage charge. Someone else found that cannot pull out a pillar from the wall making impossible to continue exploring the area. Many were failing a simple jump because a sort of invisible wall (all falling down to die) ^^' Etcetera : D

Welp, I'm regressing, performance wise. Now I can't even get Lara to jump from a pole without a time-consuming swing. I think I'm just too frustrated to get anywhere with this-- I keep measuring all time I'v wasted in 90 second increments.

Whomever designed this particular run should have their eyelashes plucked out. ;p

Just be patient and keep on trying since this game has no limited lives and is very generous with checkpoints.

I did it!

It's a bit ridiculous to feel this excited over something so trivial but I am beyond elated. Thanks for your help and encouragement!

After that fiasco, I think I've finally mastered the wall-run (I just breezed through what would have been a vein popping series of wall mounted blade traps). It's... it's actually a bit of fun. :D
