TUTORIAL: Natural Locomotion + 2 Joycons (feet trackers) + Smartphone (body tracker)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igRfDE11B6k

I created a video tutorial to pair and use 2 Nintentendo Switch Joycons as feet trackers and an Android smartphone as a body tracker (optional and recommended) in Natural Locomotion for walk in place in VR games.

Try also to disable battery optimization for Natural Locomotion Tracker app from android settings. It must be listed in Non Optimized

Hey there, just responded to the general discussion topic where you also replied. Said I both my phone and PC were on the same subnet, but after reading this, I might be wrong. They have the same subnet mask, but when looking at their actual IPs, they may not be in the same subnet. Are they in the same subnet as long as the IP's match except for the digits after the last "."? Sorry, I'm kinda a noob at network stuff.

Followed this guide

https://itstillworks.com/determine-two-ips-same-subnet-5088467.html

Figured it out. The big dumb idiot, I.E. me, forgot that he has his router running through a TPCAST router. So my phone was connected to my actual router, while my computer was technically connected to the TPCAST router. I totally forgot that router even exists, since my PC is still connected through ethernet.

Either way, I appreciate you trying to help! Maybe add a blurb somewhere in the tutorial reminding TPCAST users to connect to their TPCAST router, not their normal router. Here I am learning how to convert IPs to binary, when all I had to do was connect my phone to a different router lol.

Hello. I have a problem with Joy con. Win10 sees both Joy cons, but they don't appear in NATURAL LOCOMOTION. What might be the problem?

do you still have this problem

I bought 3 different models of non official joycons and none of them are working properly. We will try to give them support anyway. Meanwhile I recommend to use the official ones.

@pix, Are you saying that our joycons are fake? I bought them, from the store that sell Official switch, for 70$. They look and work 100% like normal Joycons (for switch console). Even my Titan Two recognize them as Joycons and they work perfectly. They have HD rumble, gyro/accelerometer and everything.

How do you know they are fake?

Edit: I would bet on the different model of the Joycon or the bluetooth to be the true culprit here.

The problem for me, i try with fake and they were not recognized, then i bought official ones from nintendo, and they appear when i couple with bluetooth first time and after diseapear, everytime i must to disable the joy con and enable again. the first time was ok, i can use in game but other times impossible to move in game.

Oh, ok. Did you find the ones I have too? this is unfortunate. Why don't they work? All fail for the same reason or they are all made with different specs from the original ones?

I'm glad you're gonna try to give them support anyway. Joycons are really expensive to buy for this use alone. So cheap knockoffs are a really good alternative. If they can be made to work! I believe in you :)

I have the official joycons, but only the left one will connect to my pc. I haven't tried them with NALO yet. Has anyone else experienced problems where only one joycon works with pc? Can I do locomotion with just one joycon?

They work fine with the switch btw.

What I can tell you is that if you have problems connecting either, you can try resetting their connection by pairing them with another device. Then pair them again with your PC.

I eventually got it! I tried your suggestion with my phone, but only the left joycon would pair. The thing that did work was attaching them to the switch and then going into settings and choosing "disconnect controllers" at the end of the controller settings section. Thanks for your help!

So I tried it out and it kinda worked for a while. I used the joycons on my ankles and my phone in my pocket. I could walk forward alright, but when I turned with the controller, it would still walk in the previous direction. Even when I physically turned, it would still go in that direction. Eventually it would adjust and I could resume playing. My adventure didn't last very long though because my right joycon would not stay connected. My guess is that it's defective. sucks because the left one works great.

Also, for the phone, does orientation matter? For pocket strafe, I had to have it face my leg upside down. I started this one the same way, but the phone started receiving inputs from my thigh. I couldn't turn the screen off because then the app would stop tracking, so I flipped it so that it faced away from my leg. Wondering if this makes a difference.

Do I need a strap for the phone or can I just put it in my pocket?

Is a strap more accurate? Is it negligible?
Nostrodamus Jun 15, 2020 @ 12:58am
Well, if the phone is in foot mode, then you need a way to keep it on your foot. If you already have stuff for your feet, then you can just put it in your pocket.
