People probably left, when they realized that Saiyans weren't practically invincible this time around, and the other races got much better abilities than a flat damage bonus.
You can play limited battle until you have more cards. This mode doesn't use your own pool of cards.

The issue was balance. People figured out the meta decks within a day or 3 and PvP grew stale.
Yeah I have to agree with that... There's no variation in PVP which makes it very boring losing to the same deck since people got 5 different Goku's in there...
