Wizard's Companion starts mostly unlocked?

I'm shocked by this, I wanted to discover the game slowly piece by piece (like basically 99% other games) and this one throws at you a book filled with already unlocked info...
Takes the joy of discovering out of the game, and don't even feel like reading it because is overwheling all at once and no way to track what you've already read...

Please, tell me there is a plot twist where something happens and you lose this book, and you have to rebuild it from scratch, finding page pieces one at the time...

No, not really. You do find new spells and stories but mostly everything you need is in the guide. But I wouldn't worry, it doesn't spoil the story or anything.

And if you prefer, you can just look at it when the game prompts you with a moment where it tells you the answer is in your book.
