Yes, i just watched the netflix movie and was gonna ask the same question.

I think the old man is Oliver too. Same clothes, same haircut, he can travel between worlds and holds mornstar.
But at the same time the movie doesn`t want to make connections, because the old man doesn't have a name and monstar is a sword instead of a wand.
It's like fans know the ''truth'' but it's not official at all
