I can't use familiars and Oliver together?
have you played pokemon befor?
I have it on switch, which is why i don't have it on steam but its up there with my fav jrpgs, its a lot of fun and has a great story to go with it
The mechanics are fairly straight forward and anything complex is explained piece by piece, slowly building in a natural fashion from simple parts to more complex systems. This gradual buildup naturally leans into how children learn, and you might be surprised to see your children picking up the more advanced mechanics faster than you as an adult do.
As for the plot, it does deal with some very heavy themes like parental death, loss of innocence and tragedy. But, much like the Studio Ghibli films, it broaches these topics with a child's perspective in mind, never getting to dark for children. The writing is humorous and lacks any curses or swears making it child friendly as well. The most child unfriendly part of the game would be the complexity of the plot, but once again everything is fed to the player piece by piece through Oliver's perspective allowing it to be easily digested.
All in all, I'd say play the first 2 hours yourself and make the decision on your own. The darkest event in the game happens in the first 30 minutes so as long as that isn't too heavy for your kids I'd say let them play it.
I don't get the sense that it was geared towards "kids", but I don't think there is anything here that would define it as "adult" content either. It can appeal to anyone.
It is a really good game experience and well worth checking out.
hehe, I was joking.. I believe as Ken says that the game has a universal appeal. ;)
