realy love this game, but...
like it's sequel (i only have a 3ds and switch so couldn't play this one first) the translation in this game is nothing short of cringeworthy :o

like in Nnk2 they added a slang to your companion wich makes it often anoying to read... (turned on japanese voices because dubs are even worse then the translated text)

allmost feels like a japanese highschool student who learned some english translated this (but on the other hand most of the translation feels like it lost it's meaning or something)

and i do not understand enough japanese to just play the game ignoring the crappy subs (the dub is just a no-go... i think i would want to murder somebody if i listen to 1 more second of that... blergh!)

So you have beef with the Cockney accent, eh? To hell with you.

What do you mean? If you're talking about Drippy he's talking in REALLY GOOD welsh accented English and it's super impressive, like beyond anything I'd imagine they'd include.

There's absolutely no bad translation here.

And it's not cockney what the hell HonorableD.

I dunno man. Welsh/Cockney/Irish they all sorta blend together to me.

I guess the most glaring thing in the translations for me, is the fact that most names got changed from the Japanese version. Oliver and Alicia being about the only ones that have not received a name change in the English version it seems. However, Myrtle, for example, is called Sherry in the original Japanese voice over. I just don't understand why they needed to change most of those names, as they weren't exotic or wordplays that you needed to localize.

Sherry doesn't give the right impression.

They've actively made it more English and I relate to it really well because of that.

I recommend trying to play the game in Japanese anyway.
If you can come to this conclusion, it's probably not as big of a hurdle as you think.
一回でも試してみて。遊びながら勉強するがさすがに楽しいですよ:lunar2019grinningpig:
