And yeah, that 30 GB 4K texture pack was exactly how you do an HD re-release. Offer it to the people who want it for free, or let them play it how it originally appeared back in 2010
What the hell did you think you were going to get? A completely new graphics engine? An expansion pack worth of new content?
I dilute the term remaster? LMFAO, i just know what to expect and don't uber hype myself up with unrealistic expectations.
Lol. It's a remaster. Not gonna repeat why, it's 3 pages back...it's a remaster. Fin.
And it's not a bad remaster IMO, just sort of...serviceable. I'm around halfway through and the game still mostly holds up to modern standards. The new options keep it looking good enough.
So yeah, no frills, no extras, just a serviceable remaster.
Which isn't a bad thing - the games finally on PC and it works. That's still awesome in its own right.
Maybe. Is it working? :P
What I found is that the textures and pictures in the PC REMASTER are higher quality/higher rez/higher detail versus the original PS3 version. Whether they made new ones, or used some AI program to upscale, I don't know. But the REMASTER definitely has new and improved versions of the textures from the original game. They look great in 4K.
So.... the REMASTER has improved textures, increased video quality, unlocked frame rate, higher resolutions, better rendering of shadows, better filtering, and all the previously released content. Does this not definitively make it a REMASTER? What else do people expect??
Also you forgot mouse and keyboard integration + keybinding in the menu. Though would have loved a bit more work on the menu, so you could also have the sound volume control of the intro and the rest of the game as well has having the remapping key from the ingame menu.
Tell me that the cutscenes at least are running 1080p natively?
I would have checked it, but I only have the PS3 and Switch versions and you are the first afaik to mention improved textures. Are you sure they're actually improved though and it's not due to the increased resolution and less destructive AA? Because the Switch versions textures already look cleaner than PS3 despite being the same resolution simply because PS3 is using Quincunx and Switch what looks like FXAA.
I agree that with touched up textures it definitely deserves the Remaster label. So long as you actually do something that goes beyond what is expected from a regular port, it does qualify.
