from who played this game on console couple times, the game is better on every regard, story is better, kinda sad and dark with few glimpses of hope. Like pokemon? You can catch familiars you fight and evolve them, less grindy and world feels better. Game has soul and knows what it wants to be. Unlke NK2 that tries to be different games mashed together, very grindy but on the positive side has better graphics. Another difference is combat NK1 is more like active turn based you and companions plus the "familiar" you choose to carry to battle, has more depth, but if you just want button mash the same button and combo 1m times in real time combat than NK2 is more your thing.
