Strange Apparitions incorrectly activated?

I was defeated within the Light Spire within Hallowed Marsh, which then ejected me back to Hallowed Marsh just outside the western entrance I had come from. Immediately after the loading screen, it started up a new Minor Quest called "Strange Apparitions." Given the description of this quest, I don't think it was intended to be started this way, as I never even encountered any such ghost to my knowledge, nor do I know the proper way to activate the quest.

- Find another ghost manifesting in the Hallowed Marsh. The spectre looked like it wanted to offer something.

the quest is triggered when you interact with the "stone tablet" within the spire. a ghost then spawns right outside the maingate which also happens to be a defeat event spawnpoint. which is what happend to you probaly. you got defeated AFTER you read the stone tablet. so its working as intended it just randomly happend in a confuseing way for you due to your defeat.

for example if you died to the light mender boss but read the tablet before (you dont have to defeat that boss at all for this quest to trigger) you would still trigger it by meeting any of the ghosts. it wont affect the quest and its also not timed.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Actually, I didn't interact with the tablet at all then. My backpack was so full from stuff before even going in the place that I deliberately did not open any of the containers to loot them, as my goal at the time was to travel to Berg. I did see the tablet thing, but I didn't pick it up because I figured it had weight.

After writing this thread, I checked the wiki to see what was intended, and it said what you have said, that the quest can trigger after flipping the switches and nabbing the tablet. Maybe the wiki is wrong about the requirements (quite possible) or maybe it was a bug to trigger without the tablet, I couldn't say. All I know is I didn't touch the tablet, nor did I even see the ghost when the quest was triggered; maybe it was behind me as I arose on the bridge after the loading screen?

Tablet doesn't go into your inventory, you open it by unlocking all the levers and interacting with it. Then it just logs on your character which you can use for one of the faction quests.

But it does NOT appear anywhere visually.

as he said. you CANT loot the tablet at all. you simply interact with it once and done. it doesnt go anywhere. it just triggers the ghosts appearence. so if you saw it well you triggered it. looting is irrelevant to that happening. its not a bug.

Yeah, when I later went back to the place to get the loot I ignored, I noticed it didn't actually give me an item. Even so, it was a puzzling experience because of how it all unfolded, hence the question mark in the title. I'd say the requirements definitely don't involve grabbing the thing or interacting with it at all, then. Thanks for the answers.
