But also, if at any point during the Holy Mission (from Q2 onward) you travel to Harmattan it'll automatically start - which is why I avoid travelling there until I'm done with HM > then when I travel to Harmattan I get instantly hit by it from the point I spawn there.
You can trigger it earlier then usual however.
It auto-triggers if you enter Harmattan after finishing ANY Quest 1
rust and vengeance is not a regular parallel quest like the other 3. it has some big differences :
you have much more time (100-60 days depending on how you started it) than the others.
its the only quest of these 4 that can be started and fully completed BEFORE you even join any faction at all. just needs 3 power coils to do so.
once you join ANY faction the quest automatically begins when you visit harmatten again.
you then get 60 days to finish it from that point.
the timer will NOT begin ticking till you do this and see the small cutscene event with the golem. so its not like vendavel for example whichs timer begins regardless of if you got in your questlog or not.
unlike all other paralle quests rust and vengeance does not autofail when you start your 3rd factionquest. all others autofail at that point in time regardless off how much time is left on thier timers.
you can postphone this quest all the way till you fully complete your factionquestline and even the new caldera questline and it will work just fine. only requirement : never visit harmatten after joining any faction (impossible for sorobor for obivious reasons).
if you start the quest before joining any faction with the 3 power coils you get 100 days of time instead of 60.
you can reset the timer twice during the quest by killing any of the first 2 bosses. this resets the timer to 60 days. if you had over 60 days left you will LOSE days by doing this.
the timer resets one more time after defeating the 3rd final boss of the quest. however this only happens ONCE. you can keep fighting the lich for the next 60 days every week if you want to by not destroying his machine in the back. this is however fully pointless to do as of current patch. was probaly meant as a different ending option that was never fully implemented.
