Cierzo destroyed?
I was travelling to Cierzo mid-game and upon reaching the gate, a new quest pops up "Vendavel" and completes. So the city is ruined permanently and I had no prior knowledge of this quest before it popped up. Wtf devs?

I heard about this quest but it was never in my journal prior to this.
I had the Strange Rusty Sword there ffs.

Have anyone experienced this? I am with the Holy Mission.

Is there any way to reclaim the contents of my chest?

Which was ruined Vendavel or Cierzo? Had you been to Vendavel previously and cleared it out?

I've heard of this happening before. What exactly does a player have to do to prevent this from happening?

oops someone else didnt get the memo:steammocking:

I had the same thing happen. It seems theres a story error with 2 out of 3 factions quest lines where the demise of Cierzo is never explained.

You have to be in a specific faction where you get a quest to save it

I take it join the blue guys to save it? I haven't joined anyone yet

you dont have to be in the blue chamber faction. If you join the others seek the chamberlady from the beginning and talk to her she will tell you the general at gate in cierzo has been captured by vandaval bandits and you should free him.

Funny thing is i cleared vandaval fortress way before and wenn i entered cierzo it just autocompleted and the guy stood at the gate and thanking me.

O ok, I've cleared it out as well, so if talk to what's-her-face in Berg I'm good to go without joining anyone?

Factions have nothing to do with it. After you do your first faction mission and go to the blue chamber during the gathering. The clan leader woman will tell you that the bandits are preparing to attack that city and you need to go save them, if you ignore it then the city gets destroyed.

I never met up with Rissa to receive that quest. I went straight to The Hallowed Marsh and went about my business. It was just upon arriving at Cierzo that the quest popped up and finished.

On my next playthrough, I guess...

This is just bad design...

Not at all, there are people in every city that warn of the coming destruction of Cierzo, as well as overhearing people in the Inns which will warn you. The player does have over a month to save the town. Staying in inns is stated to be important in the tutorial as well. So far to my knowledge the town can't be saved after everyone in it is killed. The game punishes you for bad decisions. It's honestly the draw of the game. Learn from it, be prepared, and pay attention to everything. Lots of quests are timed, and failure has dire consequences. Rissa is not the only quest giver for this quest.

Yeah no. For me the quest did not even pop in my journal, so I thought it was just Rissa telling me about possible side quests in my home town. Nowhere was a time limit specified (or at least telling me to hurry). You cannot expect a player to deduct which quest HAS a time limit and which does not. Either they all should have it or none should. By having just some, you will never be able to guess which one is it.

Moreover as I mentioned with the bug. Having such a big change where your items in stash get lost in a game, which has no regular saves and is quite janky is a bad thing. There is just so much that can get wrong potentially ruining a person's whole savefile - as it was with me.

Stopped playing the game because of it, so yeah, bad design. I have no problem with big changes. But developers need to be VERY careful about how they implement and communicate such things.

As for rumors at the inn, I tried talking to the inkeep many times and she always just pointed me to the 3 factions, so I stopped talking to her. There was no point in the game where she was useful for other things (maybe the very first quest but hey, that was a part of it).

I went back to Cierzo after joining the Holy faction in order to move all of my stash from the lighthouse to my house in Monsoon, and I was stopped at the gate by the armored dude who told me that the town was in trouble and that the bandits were gathering to attack, stating that I should take out three Warlords to prevent destruction. So I guess this quest can be started in multiple ways.
