First, make sure you are modding the correct version of the game. There is Outward and Outward Definitive Edition, if you are trying to mod DE and is not working is possible that you think you have DE but you don't.
I'm using the Thunderstore mod manager. R2modman and Thunderstore mod manager is basically the same i think idk.
Put the Outward beta version on steam to default-mono
Mods that I used:
BepInExPach_Outward
SideLoader
Outward_Config_Manager
Raid_Mode
btw I used this video as tutorial, I just did what the video did and it worked.

I have literally done all of this
Well, you need to triple check because modding is working 100%. I can even run my modded game and prove it to you, because you seem very skeptical, saying that people are making fun of you or gatekeeping.
Something on your end is wrong.
Now, both share the same Steam library entry, and both (sadly) will have Steam background say "Definitive Edition", however, this as you see can be very false.
You have two ways of checking -
1. Go to Library > Right click on Outward > Properties > DLC tab - do you have Outward - DEFED DLC listed there? If you do - you're on Definitive Edition
if you don't - you're on Oldward
2. Just run the game, when it boots up on main menu - what does it say on the menu background image?
If it says "Definitive Edition' then you have it, if it says ANYTHING ELSE, you do not have DE.

Can't really expect a basic reading comprehension from someone who experiences such significant time deflation.
And yes, mods officially DO work for this game. Stop spreading misinformations please.
Edit, the longest part was looking through the mod db to see which ones I wanted to start with. Probably spent almost 30 min searching. Still many more to look through.

And based on how he reacted, I doubt he will come back saying that we were right lol :P
I'm wondering if he actually put it in default-mono or not, or if he is trying to run the game through steam instead of through the mod manager. Or if he is clicking to run the game (if using Thunderstore) and not clicking to run modded game.
Lot of possibilities. Either he isn't replying because he got the mods to work finally, or gave up. Either way though sounds like user error more than anything else. Me and a friend recently finished another play through of Outward DE and mods worked just fine.
literally doesn't matter, the game doesn't automatically upgrade you to defed for copies bought before the steam listing was updated unless you bought 3 brothers, if mods aren't working for him he definitely doesn't have defed
