Getting my ass kicked...
So I decided to run things a little differently than my sigil mage and went full bruiser. Got the club and the shield from the dude by the prison in the first area and got the strongest armor I could find (tempted to grind for blue sand, but ive heard its not worth the time and money) AND THEN.... holy ♥♥♥♥ am I still weak lol. I got the hp buff from the dude in the first town but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do things still hurt. I cant really damage trade with anything either. Is... It always gonna be like this? Am I always gonna be 1-3 hits from death? lol

Well, with bad armor and awful weapons you will. I suggest gathering up all the starter weapons in town (there's one of each type) and then sell them all. Use the money to buy a proper iron weapon of your choice, and then get the stuff to make it a fang weapon. Get the leather armor since it's decent protection and cold resistance and will let you carry a lot more loot and gear early on.

Blue Sand is worth way more than it costs to be made. Brutal Club (or any lootable tbh) from Cherso is weak-ish in other zones. Tower Shield will still be decent tho.

I suggest you craft a Gold-Lich mace and shield (You can craft them in Cherso if you know how :P )

I still use blue sand armor peaces on some endgame bosses, this armor has godlike stats for chersonese, but there are lots of good armor peaces in this game, and really few are free or cheap.

When you say "i can't trade damage" i suppose that means you take too much damage when you get hit while you are already hitting some foe : the way of close combat takes dedication and time, you have to learn ennemy patterns and downtimes you can exploit. Try not being hit at all, shield really helps a lot.
But unless you wear heavy armor, most of ennemies will 2-3 shot you if you let them reach you ;)

One handed swords are easier to use than maces, especialy the central mouse click after 1 or 2 left mouse click : this is an evasive moove, and swords tends to be more "agile" than other 1h weapons (so easier to learn at start i think). Btw i love maces, they hit so hard in the white stability bar, if you like maces, go for it!

Hope you have fun !

yea. My DKS1 mentality of Maxing havels and letting the enemy run into the brick wall that is my massive mallet really doesnt work in this game lol.

You can get it from the travelling merchant, also the Soroborean merchant that's inside of Cierzo can have it :)

Sorry I misread your original message. Firefly powder you can get from Cierzo or traveling Soroborean merchants. The mechanism you can get in Chersonese... the way to get it is a spoiler, so if you don't want to see it don't click on the tag

There's a kind of hidden dungeon that has Gold-Lich minions in Chersonese where you can get the mechanisms
