Pretty sure the hex enchantment needs an 'additional' requirement like a specific location or time.
Edit; there is a mod for it tho, not sure if you're down to mod but you could look into
https://thunderstore.io/c/outward/p/ModifAmorphic/Transmorphic/
Yeah, that's been my problem with trying to do the enchantment manually. It says it requires it to be done in Enmerkar forest during the "foggy" season, but even with my settings on ultra I for the life of me can't tell when the forest is foggy or not because if I'm standing in one spot and looking into the distance, it "seems" foggy to me, but I don't know if there is a more obvious closer fog that I'm supposed to see, or if I have to go to a specific place that is considered the "forest", or if the entire area is considered the forest.
I've also never done an enchantment before, so even after watching the videos I can't be 100% sure if I have everything in the correct order and placement.
I would have to try some other easier enchantments that don't have environmental requirements first to see if I'm even doing it right before going with the harder ones.
But thank you for the link to the mod, I will definitely check that out as the whole point is testing first, and then gameplay, so I could always uninstall the mod later once I've picked my build and know what I want to work towards.
Select your another hero as helper, pass the item from that hero to your current hero
That would help if I already had another hero with the items I wanted, but I don't have any other characters or have previously finished the dlc to get enchantments. So I have to start from scratch.
I think i have a hex enchanted sabre, if you want i could give it to you, if you don't want to mod
thanks for the offer, but I figured out the mod and gave the item a try. As I said in my op I'm just testing out various builds to see what I want to use for the full game experience, so I'm not averse to modding. It's easy enough to undo them once I'm ready for my full playthrough.
Now that I have the mod plus the debug enabled I can spawn/craft any gear I want to try or give my character any build abilities I want, so testing should go fairly quickly once I get a feel for how each of them plays.
The hex sabre build is definitely powerful, but I didn't like the cooldown on the melee ability that does 6 strikes and the amount of work necessary to get my hands on the sabre in the early game AND set up the enchantment is just too much. It's more of an endgame build than something that will take me through most of the main quests.
Yeah, that skill you mention is end-end game, i think you can only get it in later stages of the caldera region, almost close to finishing it if i remember correctly.
As for enchanting, most of them are kinda similar in that way, it's hard to get particles early game and almost impossible to get quartz, for mid game, you can but it'll still take time and effort into farming them.
Good luck either way, and have fun!
Thanks :) Yeah, I'm going to end up playing rune sage build with some extra utility from hex mage breakthrough and philosopher. I really like the flexibility of rune magic, not having to deal with stat burn with hex mage, and having to not really ever use mana or health potions.
It's a build I can scale from early game all the way to late game since you can unlock the rune sage abilities and mana regen fast early game just by earning some silver and then running to different towns and then that will carry me through until I can piece together all the other gear and abilities I want to add to it while I'm doing the main story to prep for the dlc's.
I tried a bunch of other builds, but I wanted something a bit more magic/range based as I don't really like the melee combat, especially against certain bosses, and the bow build just uses way too many arrows for me to want to carry around and constantly craft.
