A lot of players will carry a set of armor/clothing for travel, typically the master trader set, and their "fighting armor" (or robes) for when they arrive at the destination. That being said, you could carry your wizardly stuff in the pack and put it on when you get there. I know it's not quite the solution you wanted, but could still be a good option.
Even adding a piece of the master trader set, like the boots, to your magely gear is helpful if you want a mobile character.
Happy to help! One thing you'll run into when wearing Gold Lich stuff is you tend to freeze or bake in rough weather, so be prepared for both hot and cold.
I ran a Philosopher/Monk/Speedster that used the Gold Lich armor and Speedster skills to have the manna and cooldown to abuse chakram throws and Monk attacks. It was good times! That same toon also used the flame sigil at times and and the added cooldown reduction from speedster let her throw fireballs very quickly.
IIRC the "Scarlet set" featured a lot more white than red.
Gold lich set is probably the easier and the most stylish mage set you cant get without legacy chest and work wonders for any mage build since it massively reduce your mana cost.
It also give a decent amount of resistance to fire damage, which helps for a fire mage since you can engulf yourself in flames with the sceal without taking too much damage or having to get high healing foods.
Another decent stylish mage build is the tenebrous armor and boots, plus the black wizard hat ( it is almost how balira looks like, but with a black hat, she is one of the three warlords in vendavel ).
It is an all black looking assemble, but gives high movements speed, and massive bonus damage to decay and ethereal once enchanted. The best set for a rune magic build.
